Post your Foo Fighters Vinyl Collection

Basic idea for those who are too lazy to read long threads -
- List your foo vinyl collection, with pictures if you want.
- Maybe tell us about one or two of your favourite or most precious/valuable non-foo vinyls.
- Say what equipment you play them on.

I swear I'm not trying to rob you. :D

Ok.....I know there was a my foo collection thread but it never seemed to take off.
Anyway I'm more interested in what Foo vinyls everyone's got.

List 'em all off, maybe a nice little description and post a picture of your collection if you want.

Actually it would be interesting to see what kind of set up everyone's got to play them on too.

I'm still working on building mine. Got most of these last year before my money all ran out so I don't have many yet:

Albums:
- The Colour and The Shape - UK Pressing, Really nice condition, near mint
- There is Nothing Left to Lose - UK pressing, Very good condition, again near mint, Tattoo still there
- 2x Wasting Light - US pressing, 45 RPM, One will stay sealed, the other will be played to death!
- In Your Honor - EU pressing, 33RPM, 4 vinyl box set. Mint.

- 2x Medium Rare - Again one to keep sealed and one for listening.
- One by One - 10" on the way, still sealed.
- Foo Fighters - UK first pressing, poor condition

I also got one of those blue TCATS fakes a good while ago just so I could stick it on my wall

Singles:
- Exhausted (Promo) - 12", Mint condition
- This Is A Call - 12" luminous vinyl single
- I'll Stick Around - 7" Single, Red Vinyl
- For All The Cows - 7" Single, Blue Vinyl
- Big Me - 7" Single, White Vinyl
- Everlong - UK 7" Single, Blue Vinyl
- My Hero - UK 7" Single, Red Vinyl

-Rope - 12" single soon....hopefully

That's it so far, as soon as I start working again over the summer I'll build it up more.

Some Non-Foo Fighters Favourites:
A mint condition original 1969 pressing of Abbey Road by the Beatles
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream First Pressing, NM (Butch Vig knows how to produce a record!)
Led Zeppelin - IV - NM 1971 pressing
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours, original pressing, excellent condition, autographed by the band, picked it up for €21!!!!

Oh yeah...My turntable is a cheapo Steepletone ST918 that cost less than most of the vinyls I've got. About €35-€40. It suits what I need it for at the moment but I'll hopefully improve it soon. Don't want it doing damage.

Ok I'll play...

1 Mint (legit) copy of TCATS - scored it for a good price from an ebay pawn shop that didn't know what they had and had it listed as a cd, so only a few people bid on it.

1 Mint (US) copy of There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Was sealed with the Foo Fighters tattoo still intact inside. Opened it to play it. Sad to find out that its a bit on the muddy sounding side.

2 In Your Honor (US) box sets, both Mint. One sealed but with damage to the box, one opened that I play.

1 Mint - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (US)

2 Wasting Light, one came with the limited Deluxe edition, one came with the Vinyl special edition.

1 Medium Rare , provided the place I ordered it from doesn't screw me.

Current table is a Pro-Ject Debut III with an Ortofron Red cartridge.

My LP's are a work in progress, I have:

Foo Fighters
There's Nothing Left To Lose
In Your Honor (4 LP I picked up while living in Australia)
Wasting Light 2LP UK
Medium Rare (waited in line for this one last weekend)

All are unplayed, still have quite a few to pick up

My singles collection I'm really proud of:

12"
This is a Call - luminous single
I'll Stick Around
Exhausted
Rope (pre-order)

7"
This is a Call - one sided promo
This is a Call
I'll Stick Around - red vinyl
For All the Cows - blue vinyl
Big Me - White vinyl
Monkey Wrench
Everlong - blue vinyl
Walking After You
My Hero - red vinyl
Learn to Fly
Breakout
Generator
Next Year
All My Life - US
All My Life - UK
Low
Times Like These
Have it All
Best of You - UK
Best of You - US
Resolve
DOA - yellow vinyl
Pretender - UK clear vinyl
Long Road to Ruin

My singles collection is pretty complete I think, I know I am missing Pretender US pressing on black vinyl and This is a Call 12" promo. Can anyone think of any others I am missing?

As for other vinyl I have been collecting the White Stripes LPs and singles

As I'm "working" from home today, seems a perfect time to go through what I have:

Albums:

Self Titled - Mint
TCATS - Near mint. So happy to have finally got this
TINLTL - Mint. Still has the FF transfer too
One By One - Near mint
In Your Honour - Mint. UK set with The Sign
ESP&G - Mint
Greatest Hits - Mint
Wasting Light - Mint. EU pressing which I totally forgot I'd pre-ordered.
Wasting Light - Sealed. US pressing from the Deluxe pre-order
Medium Rare - Mint

Singles:

This Is A Call - 12" luminous vinyl
I'll Stick Around - 12"
I'll Stick Around - 7" red vinyl
Big Me - 7" white vinyl
For All The Cows - 7" blue vinyl
DOA - 7" yellow vinyl
The Pretender - 7" clear vinyl
Long Road To Ruin - 7"

Was sure I had more singles than that, but am missing loads from other bands, so must be in one of the boxes I haven't unpacked from when we moved

So FooZealand is the one hoarding all the vinyl...

Mind if I ask your reasoning behind the 3 and 4 copies of identical pressings? I get I having one to listen to and one to keep sealed, but your collection is bordering on obsessive! :D

Don't mind at all - very common and very reasonable question to be asking. First you need to bare in mind I have been collecting since 1995, so a lot of the duplicates came when buying whole collections, or just when buying one item i needed when it was with others I didn't really need but could justify picking up because the price was good.

I've never gone out of my way to get 3 copies of almost anything - with the exception of the TCATS vinyl, and then purely based on price - if it's too good to turn down well you just can't. The other exception recently would be the EU WL LP - AM Germany have a set postage price, so I bought several copies, I will probably sell one or two locally to make the copies I keep a bit cheaper. And WL, and that was just dumb luck, an Ebay purchase and then the local RSD store got a copy they had told me might not arrive.

Also what you don't see there is the total number of copies of some of these that I have had at one time. I had a box from a UK record store closure in 2004 that had 50 something copies of Foo 7" singles in it. Ive traded most of them away. I guess I still sit on a spare in case I find a need to have one to offer to swap for something, or maybe damage one etc because I do play the play copies pretty regularly.

OK so its no real excuse - I am just obsessive lol - tell me Im wrong - go on I dare you :p

Holy shit is right!

Something tells me you didn't just type off those names now...It's a little too organised.
Do you keep your vinyl collection in a database or something?

I dream of the day I have a collection worthy of keeping organised instead of in a box in the corner.

I'm having to do my CD collection, with photos, for insurance purposes. I keep putting it off, but there have been two burglaries in my area of late so will probably start doing it this weekend!

Do you keep your vinyl collection in a database or something?

I dream of the day I have a collection worthy of keeping organised instead of in a box in the corner.

I wouldn't have a hope in hell of keeping track of stuff if I didn't have a big spreadsheet with everything in it. All I did there was delete everything that wasn't vinyl.

Trust me even if you only have ten items - start straight away. It is much easier to keep current than make yourself start one later when you accidentally buy something you thought you needed but found you had already bought, and yes I did that more than once before deciding it had to be done lol.

I've not really got much Foo stuff on Vinyl.
Singles:
Times Like These
Have It All
Low
DOA

I know I need more stuff, but I've not really seen much Foo Fighters vinyl in my area. I know at some point though I'm getting Wasting Light on Vinyl.

You guys are insane :p (I'm just jealous, wish I had the money to get all this stuff!)

I have:
Wasting Light (EU & US version, might keep that one sealed when it comes with my deluxe package)
I'll Stick Around
Have it All
Resolve

What a Great thread!

Come on FF Vinyl Freaks!

What I want to know... is are you folks playing them
with old-school turntables (all analog) or newer USB ones?

I've got like 40 records since I started collecting six months ago and they're still pretty under control in the box in the corner. I'm not sure I'll ever quite reach the same dizzying heights as you with my collection.

I'm guessing you wouldn't notice for a long time if something was gone huh?

On a completely unrelated note...what's your full address and at what times is there nobody home? :D

This is my first thread here, it's pretty cool to see it going this well.

I signed up years ago and visited the forum regularly but never signed in cos I forgot my details. First post was 2 days ago...like six years after registering.:o

It's really interesting and sometimes mind blowing to see everyone's collection. Mine seems pretty pitiful now.

Haha.....yeah I saw those on ebay literally 5 minutes after I posted the links for ScubaFoo. Funny that there are currently 2 on there when I have never seen one on ebay before. Of course I haven't been checking ebay daily for the last couple years like I was for a while.

I'm 17 so that's my excuse for my collection being completely inferior :D (as well as the fact that I have the records but no actual record player). They do a good job of being decorations in my room instead of actually being played.

40 records in 6 months. x2 = 1 year. Multiply that by 16 years. You'd have 1280 records which is more than me ;)

I play copies of mine quite regularly so Id probably notice sooner than you'd think.

Well more specifically I got about 40 records between 6 months ago and 3 months ago. Then I ran out of money! I've gotten about 6 in the past three months. It's slowed down quite a bit now. Getting collectibles can be expensive!

So...any more foo vinyl collections out there? Still wanna hear about everyone's non-foo favourites too!

yeah! I'm loving it too! it's so great to feel part of something, because when you start piling up records in the middle of people who don't understand it you start to feel a little crazy, misfit, outcast or whatever. =P

although I've been quiet lately, I'm always lurking here. I just don't have much to say most of the time lately as I'm on a self imposed hiatus, I almost went bankrupt with the collection and other things, so it's not like I have a choice...

exactly, it's a lot easier to take a few minutes to document your 20-something collection and then just keep updating whenever you get something new, until you're at the hundreds or thousands. :D
if you decide to do it just then, it will be and insane amount of work.

well, about the thread title, I don't have much to add, I'm just getting started and the only vinyl I have is the LTF 7". will also have the special RSD Medium Rare vinyl a friend is holding to me until I get out of the money-related hole =P

I also don't have a turntable yet, so I'm not rushing too much on vinyls, it's bad to get a brand new item to your collection and not being able to play it. I'll get one someday, been taking a look at some threads around here with tips on brands and setups.

It isn't??? :D

Yeah, I went nuts on the collecting thing for about 2+ years. Then we found out we were having our first kid and decided to move and everything, that majorly slowed things down. It really helped that there were a lot fewer physical releases during the ESPG era. Now with everything that has been going on the last few months, I am becoming obsessed again. Bad news for kid #2 which is due in 3 months. :)

Most of my good friends are big Foo fans as well but they are content with getting the albums and seeing them in concert whenever they are close. Whenever I mention something like "Hey, Medium Rare on vinyl. Anybody getting a copy?", the response is typically, "Ummmm, yeah, Not as hardcore as you." They like to look through my stuff but that's about it. And my wife....she just shakes her head.

And yes, put together a spreadsheet!!! Helps you remember what you have quickly (gets more difficult as the collection expands) and for me it was really fun to see all of the info compiled together when I was all done. I wish I had started earlier. I had over 100 items when I started mine. Now have approx. 200 unique releases.....and still growing.

When I moved house last year, my Technics turntable got dropped and broke. I was gutted.

Not having a huge amount of money (having just moved), I found the Roadstar TTL-8600 (http://tinyurl.com/4222s4w) - best 50 I've ever spent, the sound from it is absolutely fantastic. It's also sold in the UK as the Bush MTT-1 (but, fortunately, not made by Bush, who are awful), and was in What Hi-Fi as the top rated budget turntable for several years

All analogue too, and has a built in pre-amp

I only have Wasting Light, Medium Rare (waiting for it to arrive) and Best of You and DOA 7" Singles! Pitiful in comparison to some of you vinyl gods on here! :p

I saw a Greatest Hits vinyl whilst out and about in London last week, regret not picking it up now...But I have only just started collecting again after realising my record player still works.

But what I mean is that it's still cool to hear about the smaller collections too not just the monster ones.

Maybe I should've asked when your collections all started too. I'd say there's plenty of newcomers to vinyl with this album.

No-one's telling their non-foo favourites either. Do you just not have any vinyl that isn't foo fighters or what? Just curious.

Re: Post your Foo Fighters Vinyl Collection

Well, it's about time I popped my FF Board cherry!! I've been trolling for a few months, and I guess I'll begin with my first post ever here.

I've been collecting Foo Fighters stuff since the beginning. I don't have nearly the collection of some, but I've got a few. Here goes:

Vinyl Albums:
Self Titled: US Release
TCATS: US Release
TNLTL: US Release
One By One: US Release
In Your Honor Box Set: US Release
Echo Silence Patience Grace: US Release
Greatest Hits: US Release
Wasting Light: US Release
Medium Rare: RSD Release

7" Singles:
This Is A Call
I'll Stick Around
Learn To Fly
Breakout
All My Life (Sessions Release)
Low
Best of You (Promo w/ FFL)
DOA (Yellow Vinyl)
Pretender (Clear Vinyl)
Long Road to Ruin

There was a while where I wasn't as into vinyl as I was CD's, which is why my CD collection is way more extensive. I would love to get my hands on some of the 7's from the TCATS era. Someday...

Re: Post your Foo Fighters Vinyl Collection

Just been collecting the last few months or so...

Foo Fighters - Mint US

TCATS - Mint US (my latest purchase)

One by One - Mint US 10" (was sealed, I opened to play. Least favorite due to size of jacket. Does not sit in middle of stack nice at all)

In Your Honor - US (2 songs have scratches that make a tick sound :( , otherwise "Mint")

ESPG - Mint US

Greatest Hits - Mint

Wasting Light - Mint US

Medium Rare - Mint and a Sealed

Still looking for the hard to find There is Nothing Left to Lose. All of my Foo vinyl is open and played often.

I used to have a Technics SL-1200MK2. I had to sell when money was short. My wife got me a Sony usb TT last year, which renewed the vinyl interest. Since I have no Phono input on my receiver the usb with Line Out is perfect. Sony receiver with a Boston surround speaker setup.

I would say my current prize LP is a tie between the S/T Foo album and TCATS. I am glad to have these two in the collection of a couple hundred we have. For non-FF faves, we do value our growing Queen vinyl alot. :D I am also trying to piece together the last few Rush vinyl I do not have. Just landed their last release on vinyl last week. The hard to get title, Snakes and Arrows.

The only vinyl I don't have that I really want is the This Is A Call 7" one-sided promo. If anyone knows of one available let me know. :)
And if I find the remaining jukebox singles for a good price, I might pick those up at some point.

Bonus:
Them Crooked Vultures album - US
Them Crooked Vultures 10" Record Store Day 2010 picture disc - US

Won the ebay auction for the one-sided TIAC promo 7". And for only $0.50 over the reserve price. :D
Now only missing jukebox 7" for Monkey Wrench, My Hero, and Walking After You.

Yeah...Welcome to the vinyl club!

It's true..you have to start somewhere. You can't start with them all! Believe me I tried! I bought most of my foo collection in about two days...just bought one after an other on ebay and discogs.

Then the credit card bill came and that put a stop to things.

So my advice is to build slow. Don't just decide you need a specific item and you need it now. Be patient and wait for the perfect opportunity. Then some day you'll find some still sealed TCATS in a bargain bin somewhere or something (hardly, but you know what I mean) and you'll be glad you didn't spend $100 on it the day before. Anyway I'm rambling...
