Foo vinyl rarity

Anyone with knowledge of such things care to share the FF releases on vinyl, and the rarity of such items? I am not so interested in singles, just full album releases. I would love to find the early releases on vinyl and have an idea of how hard it will be to find these and estimated amounts I should expect to pay.

I just read the post on TCATS vinyl. Great info there. Now about the other ones....;)

Thanks...

Re: Foo vinyl rarity

This depends on the edition of each album but I think this is a pretty good guide:

UK Self Titled: 20 fairly rare
UK TCATS: 60-80 not rare but in high demand
US TCATS: 30-50 (I have no idea why it's cheaper)
TINLTL: 20-30 fairly rare
1x1 12": 10-20 not so rare
1x1 10": 40+ if sealed pretty rare and usually always sealed
IYH box set 50+ pretty rare
ESPG: 20 not so rare
GH: 20 not so rare, still sold by retail as new
Wasting Light: around 25 to be released so not rare yet

So based on your list you would put IYH as the rarest or hardest to get over the others? Just curious. I have no idea what the production numbers for any of the albums on vinyl.

Just today I ordered a sealed In Your Honor LP. Cost me $37. I guess that was a good deal. *shrug*

Yep $37 is a very very good price. That is a four record set remember. I jumped on one for $40 a long time ago.

In addition to Drews list (and when you become addicted) you need to be aware that in every case there is a US AND a UK/EU release for all the Albums.

For Self Titled The UK is rarer
For TNLTL they are about the same
For TCATS I believe the UK copy is rarer
For One by One my own experience is the UK 12" one is rarer
For IYH box set the UK/EU one is rarer
For ESPG the EU pressing is now definitely rarer
For Greatest Hits they are about the same - but the EU pressing will be rarer
For Wasting Light the EU pressing is most definitely going to be rarer - Ive already been told they could sell out quite quickly, info I have been told is its only being pressed in Germany.

Rarest of them all probably UK or US TNLTL or UK TCATS. Most valuable Either of the TCATS albums.

Wow, what a cool article. Thanks for sharing!

Now. The question is, which version did I get? After reading the article and based on what I have seen for sale, I am under the impression that the US version is an actual box set and is 45rpm. Is the 33rpm UK version also in an imbossed boxset? If so, did this version also get limited to 5000?

It also makes me wonder if and why the UK version would be considered "rarer" than the US version. Sounds like IF both versions were limited to 5000 the version to have would be the US since it was cut at 45rpm, making it very different from the UK version.

I am not too sure which version I will end up getting. The description did not specify what the packaging was, box vs a gatefold style, or speed. I guess I should expect the US version.

Just curious now....:)

Good timing. I had just found that auction not 5 minutes ago. Pretty much answers my questions. Did they limit the UK version to 5000 as well?

What would a good price be for the 12" Luminous This is a call vinyl be? Is it really all that rare?

it had a very limited run, but oddly enough it's not that rare, you find it quite easily and not so expensive, I think people doesn't hold it for too long and it just circulates a lot. about price, I'm not that sure, but I found it on a brazilian site for less than 40 dollars. still think there's cheaper copies out there, though.

Its one of those rare times when you acquire something extremely rare as it is, and then have that done to it. :)

Re: Foo vinyl rarity

Trying to fill in my collection of studio lp FF vinyl. I am not attempting to get singles.

So I am down to needing only TCATS and TINLTL on vinyl. Might be getting TCATS today. Having a hard time finding the other, on ebay at least. Seems it IS rare...lol.

So, in looking at the first couple posts in this thread, that list the rarity of the releases, TINLTL is listed by one person as having a UK and US release. But when I visited discogs.com today, I only see a Europe release. Can anyone clarify or confirm that this album was only released on vinyl in Europe? Not that I will be looking for one or the other, just curious is all.

Thanks.

TINLTL was released in the US and UK... The UK pressing sounds good. The US pressing is widely known as sounding like.... Poo. I concur. I have the US pressing and its very muddy. Depends if you only want for collecting or listening. The UK version here in the states tends to fetch a higher price. I'm still looking for one.

Good to know. Thanks. I have not heard either version on vinyl. We like listening to the records at home opposed to the cd's. So it would defeat the purpose of having the US version if it sounds crappy.

I've starting my quest for vinyl now too and I want to thank you for the info for the two versions of TINLTL. I never knew there was such a difference in sound quality but I will avoid the US pressing now.
