Can't link it but the new Q magazine gives it 3/5.

I'd love to hear the kind of music that critic writes, if he even possesses that ability.

Yes, I'm a bit biased, but what I've heard thus far is not something I'd rate as "average".

Well said!

He dissed TSIAN, and I think it is pretty damn good. So, good review, bad review, I don't really go by them. Its nice to read good reviews, but you know there will be bad ones. If I like it, thats all that matters to me!

I don't base my opinions off of reviews or let them guide my feelings, but I find it interesting that several reviewers/people have said that La Dee Da, The Line, and Arrows are the best ones that the album has to offer. Also, Dave has hyped up the title track a lot and I don't think I've heard any reviewer mention it yet. Which might tell us one thing. C&G (the song) might be a favorite among fans, but overlooked by the casual listener.

There was a DJ who was at the listening party for C& G last month and I remember them saying that the song C&G was really good, memorable. They wanted to hear it again. It was stuck In their heads.

Not a review by a critic, but Some Praise for the song by a radio DJ. I can't wait to hear it, Dave's been talking it up for months now.

The initial listening party reaction was very very positive. Though I guess that type of thing tends to be in general though. I'm sure I'll like it though, that's all that really matters

At the end of the day almost all reviews are just one person's opinion. And even here where we all actually like the band there is never any agreement over and one song versus another.

It's all a matter of taste - genre and then style and a whole bunch of other things. Just on the single side you get reviews that even say the same kinds of things about the last two singles, then rate them in reverse order for largely the same reasons lol.

Album review from TeamRock.com

4/5 stars and gives some detailed song descriptions if you count those as spoilers.

Another reason why I don't put too much stock in critic reviews (for music, anyway) is that opinions easily change over time. I can't count how many times I hated or liked a song and then gradually felt the opposite way over time. Or liking songs I was indifferent to all of a sudden.

Weezer's 'Pinkerton' was considered the second worst album of the year at the end of 1996 by Rolling Stone magazine. Many call it one of the best rock albums of the 90s. About 15 years later Rolling Stone evidently changed their mind and considered it a ''classic'' as well. So there you go.

Anyway, I don't know what the big deal about this review is, it gets three out of five stars, that's not even bad. Of course some critics will be more positive than others, not everyone can have the same opinion. I read a new interview with Taylor today and he said that One By One is one of his favourite FF records, obviously a lot of fans won't agree with that either.

It seems like these reviews don't make much mention of The Line. The last review talked about pretty much every song besides that one. Is it cause that's the one with the special guest?

Finally someone other than myself who likes 1X1! I think it has great songs, I even like Burn Away. Terrible production though.

So true. A while back I looked for old reviews of TCATS, just out of curiosity. And a lot of them were actually pretty so-so. And now it's widely seen as a classic album.

Conversely, I remember several magazines writing that 1x1 was the FFs' best album yet. Not exactly the popular consensus nowadays :D

the only thing I don't like about Burn Away is the chorus, everything else I really love, could be on my top favorites if it wasn't for that.

I can't remember what the average seemed to be back in 2014 for SH. I feel like it was more of a 3/5 though
