Re: Songs from WL to be classics?

Walk or These Days. Probably Walk. Rope is a good song but I can't see it rising to that level.

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

yeah please no double or triple albums. In my eyes that requires a true artistic goal, whether intentional (the Wall) or unintentional (Exile). Foo Fighters are just not that band, and that's fine....

Re: What's with "Resolve"?

definitely a filler song. But Foo Fighters albums have been rife with filler since TINLTL, at least up through Echoes. Wasting Light is their most consistent album in years. But yeah Resolve is...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

All this buildup better lead to an amazing album.

Wasting Light served as a good reboot and pumped some new energy into the band after the lackluster Echoes. But now they need to build off of that -...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

That could be cool. Most of their albums have had kind of a an overarching feeling, but none have had a blatant conceptual statement like that would. I could get used to a Foo Fighters concept album.

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I am also more concerned with the music, but this "way no one's done it" will probably have an effect on the music.

Please god no country. I agree the acoustic side of IYH was a little shaky and...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I'll hold my tongue until I hear the completed product and get 100% confirmation, but if the "doing it in a way no one's done before" is recording in different cities, then that's a bit of a let...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

Ok so I wasn't born in the 70s. My opinion is still a valid one. But I understand how your differing backgrounds could lead you to like Kiss. Not trying to be combative, just emphatic in my dislike...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I'm right there with you, Kiss is pure garbage.

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

If the new album has anything to do with kiss, then we're doomed. I mean jesus christ, wasn't that the whole point of grunge and the 90s? To save us from that over-glorified, egotistical crap?

I...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

Now we're talking. I am listening to Exhausted as I type, and I just get excited thinking about what a return to this style would be like. Songs with great hooks, guitar feedback, the fuzz sounding...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

Does anyone kind of want a return to the less refined, rougher sound of the debut? I think that would be a cool shift.

I'm excited for the new album for sure, but at least theres other new music to...

Re: Wasting Light review.

I really liked Wasting Light. I think as far as consistency and the value of the complete album experience goes, it's the best they've done since There is Nothing Left to Lose.

But it still feels...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I really hope this big different thing they're talking about is actually different. I hope we can actually hear it in the music. The cynic in me just sees this whole big thing being blown out of...

Re: Live-In-Skin

This is so interesting, so it sounds like Dave played most of the songs anyways. I thought it was a full band effort, but I suppose if Taylor was having drug problems at this point it makes sense...

Re: Live-In-Skin

Hmm that's interesting. If you had to venture to guess the rest of the songs, what would you say? I guess I'm just not that great at picking up on their different drumming techniques.

Re: Live-In-Skin

Wait Taylor Hawkins didn't play drums n every song on the album? My assumption was that this was the first true band effort by the Foo Fighters. Which songs didn't he play drums on? And I don't think...

Live-In-Skin

I am sure this has been brought up on some level before, but you will have to excuse my potential repetition.

Live-In-Skin is seriously a hidden gem. I feel that way about a lot of There Is Nothing...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

That's a fair point. And it's probably not even worth speculating, but it sounded like Dave might have become a bigger part of the writing process with Nirvana if the band hadn't ended. Again that...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I know it's music and it's a form of expression so it all comes down to opinion. But I don't think it hurts to be critical of a band you really care about.

And if we're being critical I'd say that...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I agree on all those points. Of course there is going to be some dissonance within any group of people working together for that long. Also clearly if they've been together this long something has to...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

They're never going to come right out and say they're mad at another band member in public. You have to infer what's going on behind the scenes from the diction and the tone. From what we've seen it...

Re: Your favourite Foo Fighters album

1. The Colour and the Shape
2. There is Nothing Left to Lose
3. Foo Fighters (debut)

It's tough after this, a close race between Wasting Light and In Your Honor, but I'd have to say overall 4. would...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

WOW. That is eye-opening. That pretty much validated all of our speculation of a riff there. I mean Nate called that last bit an "episode" so clearly disagreement over the bass style persists to this...

Re: Next Foo Fighters album - discussion thread

I got that sense as well actually. It's weird how he called his playing narcissistic initially on the first two albums he played on, like he was taking ALL the blame for something that didn't need...
