Re: REVIEW Foo Fighters, Gothenburg - Break a leg

This line, stupendous.
"Chris Shiflett on acoustic guitar, Dave Grohl on vocals and crutches."
Keep writing!

Re: UK bound

Thank you sir. It may be eight years old but dang that tale has made me happy, and reminded me of all the times the gig-gods have been good to me in the past. Got to ask, what did you do with the...

Re: UK bound

Weep *next* to the pint, not over it. The last thing you want to be drinking now is watered down beer.

I'm trying and failing to persuade myself that the little gig I'm going to on Saturday with kid...

Re: UK bound

I'm not sure what the recognised stages of recovery from ticket-fail-grief are, but I think I've got to 'Acceptance'. Evidence for this? I've just put my 'gig jeans' in the washing machine,and...

Re: UK bound

It's been a year since I've been up that way, but I'm pretty sure the nearest car park is the Upper Street Car Park - there's info about it here http://www.businessdesigncentre.co.uk/parking which...

Re: UK bound

For what it's worth, my face won't feel like it's been rubbed in anything unpleasant by reading accounts of an awesome gig. I wish I'd been there of course, but the next best thing to being there is...

Checked in for a little dose of secondhand-gig-joy, and there it is :) Thank you!

Re: UK bound

Yes you can. The ticket you want is Off Peak Return. That will be fine for any train you use getting there, and getting back. I just checked and it is 14 - not too bad.

The train company to use is...

Re: UK bound

I'd suggest buying a Return ticket when you get to Luton Airport Parkway. It is much, much cheaper than two single tickets, and means you won't have to mess about buying a ticket at Blackfriars on...

Re: UK bound

Excellent. I was doing exactly the same thing, and feeling similarly unprofessional, though sadly without getting a ticket. Consoling myself by replaying the Vimeo-in-my-head of my colleague's...

Re: UK bound

Hi. Not-exactly-newbie-but-yes-I-tend-to-lurk person here, sticking head above parapet and assuming someone will (gleefully and rightly) pour a virtual less-than-fresh-pot over my head. Just to...

Re: For fuck's sake! Westboro Baptist idiots are gonna picket a foo show?! *facepalm*

Props to everyone there for not slapping anyone carrying a 'God hates <insert anything here>' sign. Seemed like a big turnout of the Westboro folks. Hopefully they'll keep up their good work of...

Re: Do you like the name "Foo Fighters"?

I admire the bold decision to avoid the definite article, so I like it. Liked it for years before I realised I liked the music.

Re: For fuck's sake! Westboro Baptist idiots are gonna picket a foo show?! *facepalm*

Ta. I'm too much of a klutz to even quote my suggestion as well as your response, so since you're about 3000+ posts more experienced than I am would you be able to start a "I went to the Sprint...

Re: For fuck's sake! Westboro Baptist idiots are gonna picket a foo show?! *facepalm*

Completely understand where you're coming from, but these guys - honestly if the got ignored they'd be nothing. Doing nothing isn't an option when people behave like gits, but I think Leecy has it...

Re: For fuck's sake! Westboro Baptist idiots are gonna picket a foo show?! *facepalm*

Brilliant. How about a sponsored 'ignore' of the picket? A sponsored 'walk on by' if you will. Anyone at the gig who doesn't see, or sees but doesn't engage with these twits posts here, and then...

Re: For fuck's sake! Westboro Baptist idiots are gonna picket a foo show?! *facepalm*

These are the people (I use the term loosely) that picket funerals.

I think the Foo Fighters are accidentally doing a great thing for the community at large if they're diverting some of these...

Re: Any tips to meet the band?

Not specifically related to this band, but just in general I'm in favour of not letting the 'trying (and probably failing) to say howdy to the band' thing overshadow the 'Hot-dang! we're at a <insert...

Re: Best/funniest Dave quote..

"I can speak while whistling. I've never seen anyone else do that."

So Mr Grohl is a Clanger?

Re: Chicago Metro Club Show?!

In the (likely) event that a spare +1 doesn't come up, I suggest you take your girlfriend. In my experience siblings are waaaaay more forgiving than partners ;-) Once you've decided, enjoy the gig.

Re: News: Walk Video Is Live

Indeed sir. I've been enjoying the Falling-Down-Without-Bloodshed pastiche enormously. And working out how to hijack a golf-cart, obviously.

Re: News: Walk Video Is Live

I may be reading too much into this, but the Everybody Hurts video just popped into my head too. If intentional that's a wee bit of genius given the lyrics. If not it's a happy accident that I'm...
