![]() Reading has been a poser fest for a long time.
The hipster types I see still wearing their bands on the train into London the week after saddens me.

![]() Oh God yes to SlightlyDrizzlyUKJam.
In case anyone is desperate to camp in a field and hear live music during the R&L weekend I can recommend the Towersey (don't call us a Folk) Festival. This year boasting The Proclaimers, Beth Orton and Big Country and loads of other folkish groups. I know some people would rather die a long and tortuous death than listen to that kind of thing, but it's one of my loves alongside Foos. Also the loos are cleaner than at Reading 😁. |

![]() No Foos but Mad Cool in Spain looks like the best festival this year. Reading is just catering to the 16-21 RNB/Hip Hop crowd I guess, I've never heard of a good 60-70% of those acts, let alone enjoy them. Proof I'm getting old and out of touch I guess.

![]() Wow Mad Cool looks great! Loads of decent acts. I'm really confused as to why R&L is so poor? When you look at the lineups from the early 2000s they are mind blowing!
I am volunteering at R&L so I will be there anyway. Guess I'll just be doing more shifts! |

The lineups in the mid 2000's were always good for me, I went from 2002-2009, it became my annual holiday destination. ![]()

![]() I was genuinely surprised that the Foo's weren't announced for Reading, that seemed to be their regular fest, their show in 2012 was an absolute classic setlist, Glastonbury was brilliant for other reasons, but Reading always seemed like Foo's "home" festival in the UK.
I do now wonder if they will headline another festival again in the UK as they are now just probably too big (perhaps too expensive). The Reading line up is absolutely shocking.. I missed a year a couple of years back as I didn't fancy the line up, nor the way the crowd was a bit dodgy, but had a great day at the festival, so planned to go this year. It seems as though the festival has switched to a pop festival, I mean Dua Lipa? she's got a couple of catchy songs that are doing well at the minute, but she would have bottles thrown at her had she gone to Reading in the past. Perhaps they saw how Wireless Fest sold out in a couple of days primarily catering to a young crowd with acts you wouldn't call headliners... That said it wouldn't surprise me if the Foo's announced their own festival next week whilst in the UK, they cannot surely "just" be coming over for the BRITS?....

![]() Don't really see any logic in announcing their own festival over here when they've already got three headline shows in the summer. Could be 2019, but then why not announce it after those shows for biggest impact?
Also on a general note I'm not sure how feasible doing their own festival here would be. Cal Jam has the power of LiveNation behind it, over here I doubt SJM have the resources and money to do it. At least not on that same huge scale. Well the suggestion along with that rumour is that he basically blew their budget, so they didn't have any $ left for any other big acts. Rumours are rumours though.

![]() Yeah that line-up was pretty crazy for what was billed as a regular show, ended up like a one day, one stage festival. It'd be good if they did something like that again in 2019, just not at Hyde Park with Maam's strict noise regulations.

I think their own festival is perfectly feasible, theres no big rock festival this year in the UK, with download still being mainly metal acts. They could easily get a strong line up for a relatively low cost and it would sell well (thinking Royal Blood, Wolf Alice, Slaves etc). |
