Wouldn't that be 10? Or are you coming counting Rami?

While I love SH (and I do like the contributions of the guests on there), I gotta agree with everyone else that it is time for the Foos to do an album without all the "friends".

It's a great documentary, but it also didn't do Metallica any favors. I walked away from the film really disliking the personalities of everyone in the band (except the new bassist).

Give me a foo fighters album where there is bonus material (b-sides) available. As long as the album includes Dave, Taylor, Nate, Chris, and Pat I am good.

I can get why Dave would be trying to make things fresh for himself regarding Foo's, thinking about it, as they can't really make any big musical departures at this point (they 'could', but they won't).

I'm happy with him moving away from Foos if it means we don't get more middle grounds like Sonic Highways. Give us another Sound City and get the friends involved fully, or leave it out and make a Foos album. Make a film if he's got the video bug, some more documentaries, I'd just like Foos to be kept separate. It's completely understandable he'd want to mix things up at this stage.

If efforts need to be made to keep things fresh, maybe just stretch out the time inbetween albums so they really miss it, so making a Foos album together is enough? But they're not getting any younger... Hard to predict how things will/can go now. They have nothing to prove anymore, have nothing in their way and ridiculous resources.

He talks a little about why he hasn't departed from the norm in this new interview from Australia:

http://youtu.be/jprG8z9pjXA

I also get the impression from this interview (even with it's editing cuts) that they're not huge fans of SH... interesting Dave talks about writing a singalong anthem like "The River" (as he refers to it here) but they've only played it live once.
They also list their favourite songs to play live which are covers..

Look, I like the "friends" as much as the next guy, but there's a obvious well of talent I feel has never been truly tapped.

If the FF are looking for inspiration, then they need to look no further than all the other people in the band. I know some people hate when I say this; but every person in the band has written at least 3 or 4 quality songs (with their other projects).

Why not set a studio date (in 6 months or a year) and tell everyone to bring the best ten songs they can come up with? With five guys (six counting Rami), that's fifty (or sixty, depending on your math) demos they could do something with.

I do agree with this -I love songs from all of their other bands; it's a great pool of talent. I get that it's Dave's band, but he picked those other musicians for a reason.

Yeah, it seems pretty heavily edited too though, like they cut out any parts where the band went off on a tangent. I'd like to see the unedited interview.

I totally agree, I just don't think it's likely.

It would be awesome to see the whole thing!

The awkwardness of the moment when they didnīt really jump on answering about their favourite song on the album was kinda weird but kinda funny.
