Default Sonic Highways - Episode II?

http://www.billboard.com/articles/co...ngeles-concert

""There might be a season two," Grohl said. "There are a lot of studios." What might be included in this next run? Grohl suggested drummer Taylor Hawkins is the person to answer that. "Taylor is one to ask about the U.K. studios, he's been to them all, even if they're kabob shops now. He'll show up and be like, 'You guys know that they fucking recorded Queen's The Game in here, right?'"
...
"And the band already has a number of ideas in place for Sonic Highways to go international. "If we went to somewhere like Abbey Road it'd be fun to interview someone like Paul McCartney or George Martin, that'd be kind of cool," Grohl said. "Or go to say, Berlin, and interview someone like David Bowie or Iggy [Pop]."

"Perhaps we could go to Melbourne wherever they made all those AC/DC records and interview George Young," Shiflett suggested. "Or you could go to Manchester and interview the Happy Mondays, guys," Grohl added."
...
Hopefully it pans out and our European and Austrailan friends get little club shows like we did.

I don't need another Sonic Highways, but this would be nice

I'm game as long as it's not "rebranded" by HBO as SH2 by FFs, or some such nonsense. Simply keep name of show, and maybe title shows by city

Europeans are generally more knowledgeable than Americans but music and art and connections anyway, more openminded, and require less handholding. Kinda like Seattle lites and Portlandians!
Keep on truckin!

Cheers dears

P.s. love the abovementioned cities, South Africa or Rio, Drum nirvana, would be great, too

Yeah, I'd be really happy seeing SH-international without a new album associated with it. Just record a new album in 606, then for SH they can play old songs at the end of each episode that are given new life with flavours from the studio they're in.

Ugh indeed. Just concentrate on the songs! I also really don't think we need to be so retrospective with old musicians, I kind of see it as damaging, or at least not effective. New musicians need the spotlight and exposure and will inspire new generations more than people who are now simply quite irrelevant.

There's a new Lieutenant interview where Nate's suggested that there might be a SH II with a different band doing the running 'round.

And if anyone comes to Australia, they have to talk to Mark Opitz or they're not leaving.

Obviously you missed the point, which was about the history of music in the towns -- so obviously that would include retrospectives with old musicians. To say they are irrelevant shows a huge ignorance of rock history. Not a big deal, music can certainly be enjoyed without knowing the history ...

But to that, the SH shows are like any other show, in that it would interest some and not others. I find it extremely interesting so certainly I would love more. SH II would be heaven for me!

I get that, I just don't really see the point in doing that or what it's accomplishing. The information is already out there, no? The difference is this show has Dave and to a lesser degree the Foo Fighters in it.

When I say irrelevant, I mean inactive and no longer contributing. I don't see the show as servicing rock music, but I guess that's not the point of it.

That's fair enough dude, I'm glad you enjoy it. I think I'm just not really one for retrospection.

I'd be fine with another series of the show so long as it didn't tie the album and songs into it so tightly. Sure, make an informative series looking at the history of cities and studios but keep the songs separate.

I really enjoyed them, so I'd be happy to see another series, whether it's focused on the band or not. I liked the style and I really like music docs so it was great for me.

I don't think Dave will do another album around it now that he's already done it though.

I agree with this except instead of "so tightly" I'd have "at all".

For the most part, the songs were separate. They have said the songs, or at least the ideas of them, were already formed beforehand ... it was mostly the lyrics that tied into the episode/interviews.

Still, to me that is the best part, I love how they worked that in, and I think it was done perfectly. And in actuality, I would have preferred the songs, musically, be more tied to the city that was featured. Or maybe not, I love all the songs, so I guess if they did that, perhaps I would not liked them as much. Damn, now I don't know what I want ...

The one thing I do hope they continue with is the Butch Vig/James Brown combo.

What I'm hoping for is a DG solo record.

They've done both a magnificent album and a terrible one with Gil Norton, a breakthrough album and an unfinished dud with Andy Wallace and two mediocre efforts with Butch.

It's not about the producer, it's about DG's focus on the music.

they did 2 albums with Norton, 2 with Vig but there's no album produced by andy wallace (he's mixing, not producing by the way)
maybe you meant Nick Raskulinecz or Adam Kasper ?
#doyourhomework

and there's a difference between liking an album and the quality of it, just sayin...

Oh heck you should never type tired - of course meant Adam Kasper.. Sorry!

Forgot to add though that to this day I have not heard a good album which has had Rasculinecz in the producer's seat. I do love OBO for it's potential though, it's just frustrating how bad it sounds and how unfinished some of the songs feel.
