This article on Billboard says that Run is the first release off their ninth studio album. Still nothing confirmed from the band.

Well I mean, Dave practically announced it during the Bottlerock show.

"...maybe we made a fuckin' record and you don't even know about it."

*cough cough* So, ummm, Dave? Any other clues?

Am I the only one thinking that they're gonna be dropping songs randomly like everyone does nowadays?

Or, do you think that there's a concise mystery plan to release them in a fun/original way?

This was posted today Jun 13th, I assume it is actually new and not just from the last interview. Anyway for what it's worth...
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dave Grohl discussed Foo Fighters’ next album in a new Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe, and if there is going to be a concept for it. Alternative Nation transcribed Grohl’s comments, which seem to indicate the next album will be recorded traditionally, with no concepts like Sonic Highways.

“We had talked about that. The last record we did in 8 different cities, basically that album was to tell the story of the music in 8 different cities.”

“It was deeper conceptually than just going into the studio and making a record. Then the record before that we did in my garage, and we made that documentary, it was all about the analog and stuff like that. Then the last EP we did we recorded in the lobby of a hotel in Austin, Texas.

So we were like, ‘God, if we were to record again, how are we going switch it up?’ For us to switch it up right now (whistles) would be to go into the studio and make a record like a normal band. That kind of became the focus, it was like alright, now that we can sort of shed that other stuff and just write songs and record them in a studio as you do.”

He also discussed producers Foo Fighters have worked with in the past.

“We’ve worked with Butch Vig a lot, we’ve worked with Gil Norton, we’ve worked with Adam Kasper. But, I remember once ages ago, I think for our third record, we were trying to figure out who should produce our record. We sent some stuff to this one big producer, and he basically came back and said, ‘The Foo Fighters aren’t produceable.’ We were like, ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ They’re like, ‘You guys know what you’re doing, and you do your own thing. So no one is really going to step in and change it.'”

He also discussed arranging songs.

“Arrangements are like jokes, so to every joke there’s got to be a punchline, there’s got to be a lead up. So when you’re writing songs, they kind of have to have that structure, like you’re telling a joke.”

Dammit - I did suspect it was the same one, but you know... ever hopeful.

Do agree though - come on now FFS... RUN to fucking wait... not bored myself - just super fucking impatient. More than ever before after that single and the BR "announcement"

Probably an AUS leg indeed. Hopefully with a new song.
They're losing traction! I'm no specialist, but as a music lover, I nowadays there's no time to let a first single do the job. Everything's moving super fast and if you want to sell you need to release a single closely followed by a release. Three weeks with no new music releases is like 3 months in industry time.

I was only just thinking that an OZ/NZ tour announcement (which i'm almost totally sure would be in Summer) would include some detail about the album, like a title, date, cover etc., so it's got to be happening, like now.

I would welcome more dropped singles or a sudden release of a new, concept less album (not that I consider Wasting Light much of a concept album, because so many bands have recorded in analogue). When their social media activity stepped up again a few months ago, me and my friend we like 'herrrreee we fucking go, another crazy hype train!', still feeling a bit fatigued from the last two.

Like with dropping the concepts for a while, it seems Dave knows when to change things up <3

Hmm, Triple M deleted that post 40 minutes ago. Change of plans? Or jumping the gun and revealing something they weren't allowed to? Prickteasing?
