Default Late! Pocketwatch

Theres a chance this gets closed or shuffled into the FAQ,

but is there a place to listen/stream to this album closer to HD? (but not on youtube)

Remember folks, no downloadable links, just looking for a good listen.

Not sure what you mean by HD, as you know the album was only available on cassette and a generated one at that. The best you'll get are the FLAC copies of a good quality tape.

I lost my tape many ages ago, but I noticed that the generated stuff online actually sounds clearer than my old tape.

Basically, it's never going to sound any better.

We've had a handful of tapes transferred. Because of the DIY nature of their production the tapes all sound different, depending on when in the cycle they dubbed them. They're even all cut slightly different, some of them have little ambient noises (like Dave saying sorry at the start of Marigold) missing, again because of the DIY nature of copying.

Of course the best sounding ones should be those dubbed from the tapes earlier on, then steadily they'll get worse as the tapes they were dubbing from got worn. Then the transfer methods affect quality greatly, if the transfer to digital was done on a crappy boombox or something it'll sound bad compared to a good quality tape deck with proper azimuth adjustments.

The best copy I've ever heard personally is of a recent tape transferred on a Nakamichi deck then slightly remastered tastefully. You should be able to find it online, it's by JWB and put out 06/11.

Forgive my ignorance but who is JWB?

Nobody important, just the person who remastered it. I was just giving you a keyword to enable you to find it.
