Default Wrigley Field Show {Merged with a couple others}

Show announced for 29th August next year.

Obviously, I'm sure that will be of interest for many people (possibly even myself). It's also interesting for UK people - pretty much rules out Reading/Leeds as that is the same weekend, if my maths is correct.

Terrible place for a show.....
Why can't they stick to arenas?

This is the last place I want to see the Foo Fighters. I don't even like shows as Soldier Field but that would have been the better choice if they wanted to do an outdoor show in Chicago. Now I'm really bummed I didn't get a chance to see them at the Cubby Bear. Hopefully there's a Milwaukee show. Grant Park would have been a better choice. Whatever, I guess I'm supposed to be happy their coming back to Chicago.

I'm obviously psyched for the upcoming arena tour, but this should make for a great road trip! Pre Sale starts Friday (great birthday gift from the foos!)

Which narrows the options slightly. Glasto? Their own shows? Or something like Download?

Could not be more excited for the first of hopefully many dates. We are going to make this a family event and road trip with our kids to make it their first FF show

It says there's going to be GA tickets available also so I'm assuming the middle sections may just be a GA pit type area.

Yeah that looks almost identical to the set up they have used for concerts here at Target Field the past couple of seasons. They lay some kind of floor base or tarp down on the outfield grass for the floor level or pit, and usually rope off the infield area to keep people off of it.

Definitely considering a road trip from Canada for this one.

I wonder if this is a sign of things to come with this tour? ie- Doing bigger shows at bigger venues?

Comerica Park in Detroit is terrible for concerts also, unless you are on the field. Is it the same for this venue?

Wrigley is absolutely horrible for concerts...You are far away from the stage if you are in the seats and the sound sucks....I've seen DMB, Paul McCartney, Blake Shelton, and a bunch more there. The seat setup is the same for them all, except if there is a GA Pit up front.

I don't understand why they would wait until almost a year later to hit Chicago for an album that drops in 3 weeks. There whole "See ya Chicago....Sooner than you think..." Does not equate to 10 months for me...I would imagine there would be a winter arena tour to support the album and somewhere close to Chicago...

Well they are already booked through January with Chile, Brazil etc. Earliest the American tour could start would most likely be March or so. I would be pretty surprised if this Wrigley show isn't more towards the end of the US tour run and maybe a Chicago Arena show will be set for earlier in that arena tour run? Just my speculation.

You do realise a band saying "we'll see you really soon" is literally lesson #1 in getting a crowd on your side?

There's nothing to stop them doing arena tours if they want, but this is a band that has essentially been playing stadium-sized gigs or festivals pretty much everywhere else in the world for the past 6/7 years. I'm happy to be proven wrong but, from what I am aware, the US was the only place they did what I would call a "full" arena tour for Wasting Light.

And you can pretty much guarantee that they will be spending much of the summer in Europe. Certainly June and probably early July as well.

We're thinking of coming from Ohio. Never seen a show here . Sound sucks? Everywhere or just up top?
