TCATS demos?!?!?!?!?!? Monkey Wrench and HJP, Goldsmith on drums.

EDIT: These are really rough and seem to be Laundry Room recordings with Barrett Jones. The band recorded demos of their new songs which they used to shop around for a producer. So this isn't to be con fused with the Bear Creek session with Gil Norton and the first batch of (ultimately scrapped) TCATS recordings.

EDIT2: The scrolling text is inaccurate in saying that Goldsmith's drumming was erased from the Bear Creek session. As far as anyone knows, Dave at least would have a complete copy of the Bear Creek session with Goldsmith drumming. The Grandmaster session had the band rerecording entire songs, not just the Bear Creek drum track.

EDIT3: From the sound of everything from the vocals to the guitars to the drums I think we can finally confirm that "Make a Bet" was a demo from this demo session. I didn't doubt it -- Barrett Jones said it was -- but the old liner notes, I believe, said it came from the Grandmaster session.

EDIT4: Who the hell is this guy on youtube? A Goldsmith family member? He also posted this video -- and a buncha UFO crap.

Based on what I could read through the Star Wars-like scrolling and the massive amount of run-on sentences, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a friend or relative!

Thanks for posting this though. Very cool to hear!

Wow! This was quite unexpected, like when Mountain of You or the Lonely as You MDD verse leaked. What's next?

I hope this guy uploads the rest of the songs. Maybe this is a life-only chance to hear these sessions.

I agree about 'Make a Bet' sounding similar.

Btw, i'm still waiting for the million dollar demos.

What a find!

Hey Johnny Park is interesting with the lyric "You'll never know what i'm talking about" which seems to be what Dave was 'mistakenly' singing at recent gigs I'd noticed... Turns out they were the original lyrics

never thought these would see the light of day!

For preproduction demos, they´re quite similar to the final versions IMO, arrangement-wise I mean.

Do I understand correctly that the scrolling text is signed by William Goldsmith? Hmmm...

Now if only the 1000,000$ demos would leak..

Wow, Interesting. They must come from this session - https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...21072754_n.jpg

So only two more songs for them to hopefully upload.

That might explain why the text abruptly ended after his whole name. "Hmmm..." indeed!

Accidentally. I don't even remember what I was looking for. SDRE stuff, I think. I couldn't believe it. The page had about 20 views when I found it.

I don't think so. It looks to me like it breaks off suddenly. I don't think Goldsmith has any interest in posting these, or in staying up nights watching for UFOs.

Interesting. It says "Reel 1." There must be more reels, especially if they recorded "Make a Bet" at that time. I've always assumed for the demo they recorded every song off TCATS except WAY and Everlong, plus Make a Bet and TCATS song, plus maybe Butterflies, I'm Alone Again, and who knows what else? That's all just assumption on my part, though. They may not have needed to record all their new songs for a demo. Hell, they may have only recorded a handful of songs at the Laundry Room and combined them with the songs they recorded earlier in the year at Bob Lang's during the X-Files soundtrack. Unfortunately, there's probably no way to know for sure short of asking Barrett Jones.

I'd rather hear the Bear Creek session, to be honest.

Yeah there are probably more reels, LRS uploaded that picture a few months ago but no others. I would assume they did most of the record as well, minus the later new songs.

I sent a message to this person on YT, just to see if they'll upload the songs in better quality than YT but perhaps if they reply I can work out who it is. I'm with you, it's not William himself but someone close to him at one point or another.

Ex-girlfriend? This definitely seems like an ex kind of thing to do.

Doubt it, the slant of the message is certainly pro-William, not against him. I'd guess friend or relative.

So is that image what everyone was talking about a few months? I assumed when everyone was talking about "Foo Fighters Demo," they were talking about the first album session from '94. I was a little confused, since that was recorded at Bob Lang's and not the Laundry Room. It all makes more sense to me now.

No I don't think many people saw what I posted because it was uploaded in March before they had the big publicity push in August. People were talking about this image which really could be anything given the generic title. Could easily be a DAT of the first album session though, Barrett did record it of course.

No problem. Do you mind if I branch this off into a new thread? It's just it's not really related to the title and more people might see it that way.
