I really think But Honestly could have been way better (even the best on the album) if it had drums in the beginning. It just seems like it's missing something.

ESPG is far from being a bad album. But it's not a very good one, as for me a good album is good from the first song to the last. "Home", "The Ballad of the B. Miners" or "But Honestly" could have been replaced by better songs, still in the same mood.

Hi, i have since 2 days the new album ESPG and only Pretender, Let it Die and But, honestly i like. Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl do not continues develop, they change here style more and more from genius energy loaded Power-Rock to slower Mainstream Rock with social intent. A big difference. I hear only Standart Guitarsounds. No Sound experiemnts. ESPG look like a lot of song collection that had no place on In your Honor.
My Tip. Somebody give Dave an Razor. So he cut his hairs and come back to younger lifestyle. He makes himself older as he is. Optical and musicaly.

I just want to say to all those ready to criticise the album to give it a couple more listens first.
Because i have found that it takes more than one or two listens to work out what you really think of new albums.

Yes, i compare with you, that i like it a bit more if i heared it more. But i miss the character of Foo Fighter Sound. I mean a bit funny a bit provocate, a bit more risk. Most of Songs and Sounds, sounds like an Mainstream Rock Album like other Bands. An all must like it Style for the mass. Then i hear Come alive as an example, think on Stadium feeling like Aero Smith or Metallica or Bon Jovi or or and or and or........but not Foo Fighters.

I hope in future Dave Grohl risk more and come back to a younger style. The Song and the Video LOW was fantastic, thats that i mean.

Low is from One By One, i doubt it would be classified as a 'younger style'/an early album.

okay, after the 40th time i listened to the album i think its not so bad like i have said before.

i like erase/replace, cheer up boys, come alive (i LOVE the ending), and i really love Long Road to Ruin.

i give the album after i have listened to it a few times more, 6.4 from 10 points.

hes fatter then a few years ago

but the aging process begins with 35 years i think, so lemonzigers post must be right.

This is also young. (September 2002). It's just the beard which makes him older nowadays.

I think since 2005 an In your Honor, Dave is beeing very fast older. Very long fatty hairs(ok,long hair he had in Nirvana times too) and a big beard wich will be longer and longer. He makes hinself older as he is. Optical and musicaly. Ok it his own choice but in Low from One By One i think it was the last big funny Video and to creat this you must have alot youth and fun intus.

More and more i hear ESPG i like it more and more but its sound too much mainstream.

Cause everyone else who's mainstream is mainstream and that's a lot... They are just blending right in there with them now, there's nothing a bit "out there" anymore - but then there hasn't really been since some of the tracks on One By One.

Once again, I have no problem with mellow music or anything, but this album just doesnt sound right. Its just missing something. The more I listen to it, the more I get depressed by the rock songs, and the more the mellower songs get annoying.

I'm just giving my opinion after more listens of the album. I don't think this one would grow any more.

Kevdrummer said it best.. people might call 1X1 shit for whatever reason, but at least they were more out there.. it was more darker and had a bit more edge to it.. this one just gets a bit too bland..

Dave said in an interview they recorded heaps of different songs during the album sessions and that some of it was wall of noise stuff.. i don't know if that was exaggeration but I'm starting to wonder how that stuff sounded and what we might have missed out on..
They should have really left every song that's on the album on the cutting floor for b-sides or something. Every song that's a b-side so far is better than 99% of the album tracks. The others HAVE to be better than some of the shit that's on the new one.
