Wow, Outside really stands out for me. Is Dave singing on the entire song?

What about Blaze Foley? I dig the whole exploration into punk rock, but Blaze a Foley should've been a focus of Austin. Listen to 'Sitting by the Road' by Foley, Foo Fighters.

if we're doing this

1. Outside
2. Subterranean
3. In The Clear
4. Something From Nothing
5. The Feast and the Famine
...
6. I Am a River
7. Congregation
...
8. What Did I Do?/God As My Witness

I Am a River and Congregation are dull but WDID/GAMW is just embarrassing, to me. But then Outside and Subterranean might be the best songs they've recorded since the first album.

I've been reading a lot of these posts and some people are saying some things that are extremely distasteful. Saying things like "this song is just absolutely terrible" or "this isn't Foo Fighters" is just plain wrong. If you are saying these things, you probably have not seen the HBO show. This album was written one week at a time, drawing inspiration from the people and history of each city. The fact that they were able to finish this project and give each song qualities of each city as well as the personal touch of the Foo Fighters is amazing and a feat to be respected. Also in general, if you don't like someone's music you shouldn't anonymously post about it online with no constructive comments; this is artwork.

I think all 8 songs each have great qualities and I really enjoyed listening to this all the way through about 6 times today.

Something From Nothing: Great intro to the album with a classic FF buildup and a bridge that is absolutely fantastic. I've been listening to this since they released it and I still get goosebumps when i hear ALLLLLL RIIIIIIIIIISE.

The Feast and the Famine: Yes. I love the tempo and think this song is just great.

Congregation: Very different for the Foos, I fucking love the collaboration with Zac Brown though. This song grew on me a lot and definitely has a lot of the feels of Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.

What Did I Do?/God As My Witness: I found this song hard to understand at first. Dave is an athiest but he is singing about God? But the Austin episode of Sonic Highways put this one together for me. This one grew on me too, and I enjoy the country rock progressions because it reminds me of a lot of classic rock sounds

I'm going to hold off too much judgment on the other 4 because I haven't listened to them enough. I like them all though. The first time through, Subterranean was my least favorite out of the four but now is probably my favorite. The way it flows into I Am A River works really well too. Overall, I think this is one of the more listenable albums all the way through.

Thanks to the FF for putting their time and soul into their music for the past 20 years.

1. Subterranean
2. I Am A River
3. Something From Nothing
4. Outside
5. Congregation
6. The Feast and the Famine
7. In the Clear
8. What Did I Do?/God As My Witness

Subterranean and I Am a River are my favorite two tracks right now. The rest of it, honestly, isn't doing a whole lot for me yet. I'm kind of disappointed that this album had the potential to be wildly different from the rest of their stuff, but really isn't.

A,wide variety, for some Subterranean is first or last, others River, or WDID,GAMW,
I mean great art is just this,
provocative,
Dave stuck his fingers in a bunch of holes, n came out with this grand foomin record,.

This one's gonna be one of their better statements, memorable, and
it's gonna sell a million fookin records,
at least, prolly 5 times that by time it and the Foos make thir global run, and SFN, and another tune or two, who knows which - Feast, or Outside or Subterranean? Mayv even Cong or hit the airwaves

All for the love o music n passion,
Cheers Mates
see u in Foo15!

Finally got to listen to the album last night after the iTunes fiasco.I love it! Besides SFN, my fave tracks are Outside and Subterranean.Weakest track for me What did I do.Love am I a river although lyrically it is a bit repetitive, love towards the end of the song. Can imagine that played at Wembley!

Ok, kind of a side note here, but I'm pretty sure Dave doesn't say ALL RISE in Something From Nothing. It always sounded like one of his ALLLLRRRIIGGHHHTTT's to me, I think that ten second audio clip of the isolated vocal track that came out months ago was falsely reported by bloggers/music reporters as ALL RISE. It's not in the lyric sheet and it wasn't in the video at the end of the first episode with all the other lyrics... and honestly the phrase ALL RISE seems really un-Foo Fighter-y and out of place with the other lyrics in the song...

Anyone else think it's just another ALLLRRRIIGGGHHHTTTT?

listen to the Maida Vale version - it's definitely All Rise, which is a nod to Naked Raygun's album.
