off-topic: you must be in publishing (not just high school papers). You just described a big part of my job. Yes it is an art form to try to reach the desired page count. (as in 5 pounds of crap must be stretched to fit in a 10-pound bag, but most of the time it's 10 pounds of crap crammed into a FIVE-pound bag....many tricks needed to get that shit to fit)

I hope that's the deal with this book, and not two wildly different versions...
but why didn't they have one editor/editorial dept. make one book, and release in both US and UK?

nah, much as i daydream about being a writer, ive done nothing more formal than a high school paper or maybe throwing bits and pieces into my brother's columns for a free paper

i think you need to go to school and shit for that stuff.

if someone wants to just pay me to become a modern day hunter thompson, i'll go all in for em, but I think my career path is already chosen in the decidedly less cool field of information technology......sigh

It is the same book - the page counts given on Amazon are just estimates because the book is currently being run past the legal department & is in the proofing stage so neither publisher knows an exact page count yet.

Nah, the dude's just a good writer and gotten probably the most interesting/candid interview out of Dave (see: the mojo one that pjonze linked earlier) and I've thought it would be cool to have a book like this where there's actual originally sourced research instead of the shitty ones that have come out already that seemed to basically just take quotes from major interviews, band bios, and commonly known shit and just thrown together in a haphazard narrative.

Seriously, read that Mojo interview. Paul Brannigan gets his good shit
Haha. The mojo piece was great, I've pre ordered the book.

He speaketh the truth.

Though I'm sticking with the margins theory too...

Under $20 shipped anywhere in the world. That's for a hardcover too. Paperback isn't out until September.
Thanks a lot for that! Will pre-order there.

Just finished it.

You guys are gonna fucking LOVE this. It's got enough of so that's really really easy for someone who isn't like.......pjonze or simon or me to appreciate it, but definitely isn't something where if you've read other interviews/books/articles, etc that you're going to find yourself bored by a couple hundred pages of shit you knew already.

My only complaint is that it couldn't be like 1000 pages long

I concur. If I can read it and glean new information even after reading everything that's on my site multiple times then it's a job well done.

It'll up your workload though. There were a few topics and I thought 'There's a thread that's gonna need closing'

I'm sure the combo of another single, a US tour, and that book won't make me go crazy or anything......
