God damnit, was hoping for a FF album with no guests on. Sure, someone could play a triangle on a track, but I don't want to hear different singers/guitarrists on a Foo Fighters record.

I feel kind of annoyed at Grohl & co atm. Why would you do this on a FF record?

I sure as hell hope not. Sounds like it though. I'm very disappointed. I want a ff record. Not a collaboration.

The 20th anniversary must be in october since thats when the first record was recorded? Or do de have to wait until the release of the self titled album? Then we have to wait loooong...

At the end of the day, the album will be what it will be.I would prefer a FF record, but the sound city album was great. Worrying or being annoyed by it won't change what the album is. You may be pleasantly surprised!

Wasn't the first jamming session at a Halloween party? That could be the date?

Judging by the fact that on multiple occasions Dave said the album had been written before starting in Chicago, I see it more as a Bob Mould on Dear Rosemary/JPJ throughout IYH type of situation rather than the Sound City collaboration concept.

I loved Sound City, the movie and the music, but at the end of the day, this is a Foo Fighters album, and I want to hear the 5 of them together knocking it the fuck out of the park.

I'd be very surprised if it was only 8 songs total, that's very unlike them. Maybe 8 done abroad and 8 done at 606? That's wishful thinking, but the selfish side of me wants at least 11 tracks after waiting for 3 years. Chances seem incredibly slim for B-sides this time around as well, unless they opt to release demos or something.

VERY excited for the series, seems like a natural progression for Dave & co., and the fact it'll remain uncensored is excellent too

edit: I'm also just gonna leave this here... (from January 20th, I got pretty close!)...

I think it will be great. I've always doubted how things would turn out, but trust in Dave - nothing he does is bad.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the 20th anniversary of Foo Fighters will be considered the day all four first got together and played as a band, which we believe to have been late October or early November.

We certainly won't be waiting until next July, I'd imagine that area of time will be reserved for serious S/T anniversary promo, hopefully a re-issue of some sort and more songs from that record played at live shows. Possibly even a handful where they play it all.

I doubt it as well. What I think they've done is only mention the cities they've already been to, so as not to give away the ones still to come.

I'd bet 12/13 is still the target and the press release just didn't want to mention the as yet unvisited cities. It's obvious they didn't intend to release this info yet, but were pushed by the Brannigan post yesterday.

Despite the press release stating it quite clearly, t's only just dawned on me it's their 8th album - so the 8 songs in 8 studios makes a little more sense.

This from the press release though;

basing themselves at a legendary studios integral to the unique history and character of each location. wasn't the Nashville studio supposed to be Zac Brown's? And what about the Austin one? Can either of those claim "legendary" status?

So i take it Paul Branigan wasn't supposed to say anything then?

Well, he hadn't signed an NDA so he could say what he liked - it was then open to be ignored, denied or confirmed.

Hmm, I guess that could make sense. An 8 song FF album doesn't seem right though, even if some are longer songs.

One point against that though, Butch said they hoped to be finished by the end of June. If they're already in New Orleans now and recording song 8 then they've either finished 6 weeks ahead of schedule, which I doubt, or there are more to come before then.

What Butch said has crossed my mind too. Considering they seem to have spent a week in each studio & what Butch said wasn't very long ago either.

I hope there will be more than 8 songs on the new LP, cause otherwise it's just an EP. Maybe just 8 of all the tracks filmed for the HBO series....

That's an official press release from the band via management via the PR company & co-signed by HBO, so (after passing through all those hands/eyes) if it says 8 songs then there is no reason to think it'll be anything but 8 songs.

Hopefully some b-sides or a bonus disc shows up somewhere along the line and maybe the original plan was 12 in 12 and it was just a little too ambitious, but knowing full well this news will be reported worldwide they wouldn't have put a number on it if it wasn't locked in.
