Default This Is A Call on Amazon

So, Amazon.co.uk has it listed as 400 pages,

US has it listed as 340 pages.

Pre-ordered from co.uk yesterday, just to be sure IF there´s a difference..

I hope there isn't a difference. If the UK version does have more pages than the US version I am gonna be PISSED.

Not official but what sets it apart from those other biographies is that the author has interviewed Dave numerous times over the years & he did the excellent Mojo career retrospective with Dave (http://www.fooarchive.com/features/mojo09.htm)

I just also noticed that the 304 version is published by Da Capo Press; while the 400 pages version will be released by HarperCollins.
Seems like one is the European, the other the US seller. Anything besides a difference in font size would be weird as an explanation.

Also - the uk version has about the worst book cover I have ever seen. I preordered the US version on amazon , meaning I'll have to pay much higher postage, just cos the uk cover is so crappy

Haha, I was pretty much thinking the same, I guess the US version with hardcover would look best in my shelf... ;D

Actually you might want to check out the german amazon, it's also possible to order the US version there if you expand the box with the different versions...
Don't know if price + postage makes a difference for you.

sorry anyone, but I just can't see it as not official.
to me, whenever a biography is authorized by its subject, it becomes official. but that's probably just me and I'm no writing authority whatsoever.

as for the page numbers, font size might be the most probable cause, or maybe just incorrect info listed. I can't see 40 pages of content being missed from a different country, there would be no point in hiding something that a whole country can see outside of yours. =P

Haha im thinking of doing exactly the same. I just dont understand how people can put so much time and effort into making a book - then decide to use such a bad cover. It just makes it look so tacky and cheap!

I'm hoping the book itself is great though - I follow Paul Brannigan on twitter and it seems like there should be some good stuff.

Book Depository is always pretty cheap.

http://www.bookdepository.com/This-i.../9780306819568

Under $20 shipped anywhere in the world. That's for a hardcover too. Paperback isn't out until September.

There might be slight differences - Editors can see things in different ways sometimes - but not substantial.

When I know more myself I'll update you....

It's an artform. It's ironic I was so good at it since now I rattle off 800 words on here without even blinking and when I try to use the twitter, I get annoyed at being awful at condensing thoughts to under 140 characters.

But I think that's more of an indictment on 19th century American history, every subpar book I got forced to reach and the unbelievably boring nature of 6 years of religion/philosophy/ethics classes from Catholic school and my profound ability to procrastinate then it is an indictment on me.

Oh yeah, I'm psyched for this book too

I'm sure there's like 4 chapters on me at least? No, nothing like that....unless my fuckin posts are footnoted or something ridiculous (Paul Brannigan has definitely looked on here)....haha

Nah, the dude's just a good writer and gotten probably the most interesting/candid interview out of Dave (see: the mojo one that pjonze linked earlier) and I've thought it would be cool to have a book like this where there's actual originally sourced research instead of the shitty ones that have come out already that seemed to basically just take quotes from major interviews, band bios, and commonly known shit and just thrown together in a haphazard narrative.

Seriously, read that Mojo interview. Paul Brannigan gets his good shit
