Default Boston - Last Na Tour Date = Boooooo

Saw the Foo Fighters last night in Boston. Have to say it was quite a disappointment, and that's saying a lot considering they are one of my favorite bands.

Dave has fallen so much more in love with himself, it is difficult to watch. The self-indulgent "breaks" in almost every song have grown longer by minutes instead of seconds. The "meaningful silent pauses" are long and boring and unnecessary. The Foo Fighters it seems are no longer fighting any foo, they are doling it out in heaps!!

Dave said early on they would play 3 hours. They started at 9:05 and finished 15 minutes before mignight. BUT...if you removed all the self-indulgent jamming in the middle of intended 4 minute songs, and the pregnant pauses, it may have equalled a full hour and a half.

It was the LAST show of the amercian tour. I have seen a lot of these and bands typically break out something special. Dave and da boyz actually cut the set by one song, and included no surprises.

For my cash - 65 bucks in the nosebleeds that Dave even referred to as the shitty seats, it was nowhere even near worth it. I'm saving my cash on the next tour to see someone like Joan Jett!!

Thx for sharing your opinion. Every band needs some critisism time to time and you might even have a point.

I'm sure there will be a few that agree with you and many others that feel exactly the opposite. While the shows may be a bit predictable, they are still entertaining as fuck. I suppose I was spoiled with catching a few of the early small gigs in LA at the end of last year and early 2011 but even sitting through the 2 Forum shows in October, I loved every stinking moment - including the "self indulgent" breaks and jams.

Save your cash. Definitely your prerogative. I plan on saving mine up so when they head back to my neighborhood, or better yet, Vegas, I'll be there with bells on.

I have always felt the jams and extended endings was Dave's method of resting his voice. I also thought there were a lot of "interludes" but with the energy the band displayed last night I am 100% ok with it. They tore it up for close to three hours if it takes a few extended breaks to do that, I'm all for it.

Were you at the same show I was? If they're one of your fav's how could you be pissed about 25 songs!? I get it you don't like the jams but 65$ for 25 songs breaks down to $2.60 a song. How can that be disappointing!

Why bother going to see a live show, if you don't want to hear jamming and extended versions of songs? It would be a pretty boring show, in my opinion, if a band played their songs exactly like the record.

Just saw them less than a week ago and they do not break in every song. In fact, they played right through at least 4 or 5 before they took even a few seconds break in between songs.

Also, Dave is one of the most down to earth rock stars out there, not sure what kinda show you saw, so I reject your statements and demand that you refudiate them.

I absolutely loved the show last night.

I have totally lost my voice and may have some partial hearing loss. lol

The only thing that was long and boring to me about last night - was the drive back home to Portland, Maine after the concert.

i agree with the thread starter. the show i saw 12 years ago was not the show i saw on this tour. all the time spent fucking around with 5 to 10 minute guitar solo battles and rock jams just drained the energy right out of the songs. stacked actors, monkey wrench, breakout...all songs that have a sense of urgency and a driving momentum that come to a screeching halt. at one point, i almost forgot what song they had started with! will not be wasting my hard earned cash on them again. social d was the superior band that night.

your complaining about a few extended jams? Really? The fuckin band plays well over 20 songs a night and your complaining about them stretching out a few tunes? Social D wishes they could headline an arena tour and have thousands of fans waiting for them. Nothing against Social D, but I mean come on.

quality will always beat quantity. having seen them on this tour just validated that for me. i'd take a shorter show if it meant cutting out these ridiculous jams and adding extra songs in their incredibly rich vast catalog. that is what annoys me. they have so many great songs and they do the same dog and pony act they've been doing for the last 10 years. at least they chose to play a bunch of songs off the new record.

and i don't see what social d not being able to fill arenas has to do with the quality of their live show. i'm saying for the night of the concert, i thought social d put on a better quality set.

and jill, what's wrong with differing opinions? you're not obligated to read these threads if it bothers you so much.
