The whole album isn't strong enough to get a nod. QOTSA's was and did.

I love this album but the last few songs (except the Line) just dont do it for me. But Run is in my top 5 of the year. Maybe even #1

pretty much how I feel, overall I love the album and still listen to it a lot, but there's a couple of songs I always skip. So it doesn't really feel like an album-of-the-year thing.

that being said I think it's quite a bit better overall than IYH and ESPG, and unless I'm mistaken both were nominated for Album of the Year.

Some tracks are definitely stronger than others, and i'd agree that Side A stands out above Side B, but i'm cut that it didn't get an album nom because it's been received so positively in general. Besides it going to #1 in several countries, it's one of their most interesting offerings to date. I'm glad 'Run' is being recognized, but it's a shame the album on the whole got looked over.

Plus Cornell will almost definitely get a posthumous win in their shared category so they're really only up for one.

Yeah, I know the Grammys are lame and aren't any real measure of artistry or success these days but the work these guys are putting into their music isn't being recognized.

I think the album is very strong and at least on par with some of their previous Album of the Year nominations, but compared to IYH/ESPG it does suffer from not having a huge, stand-out hit single. The Grammys also work on buzz.

I mean, if it was up to me, they'd be nominated for all the Grammys and a few Tonys to boot, obviously

Still, a well-received number 1 album with 2 Grammy nominations is not bad going

Wow. I'm loving this album. One of their best for me. The last three (Sunday Rain, The Line, Concrete and Gold) are all really good. Dang. I think every song is pretty damn good. I think those last three have some Led Zep and Pink Floyd feel to them.

Obviously not going to lose sleep over it but I am a little surprised they didn't get nominated for the album. Of those nominated the only one I've heard is QOTSA though, which was great, no idea how the others compare.

TWO "similar" rock nominees is maybe asking a lot in this day and age - I wonder if that factors into it?

They took Best Rock Song and Greg Kurstin won a nod as producer on the album!

Oh! Didn't realize it was tonight. Nice, congrats to the guys!

And Run is really awesome, so, well deserved imo. Can't wait to hear it live

Don't really watch Grammy's or care either way, but interesting that Rolling Stones won for 'Best Traditional Blues Album', Blue & Lonesome, which is well deserved and a great album of blues covers (mostly a tribute to Little Walter)!
