Default Is there ANY way to get something signed at a concert?

Hey all. I'm sure you get this a lot here but I'm really trying to get this.

I booked some tickets with a friend to see the band perform at London stadium on the 23rd of june, and as a HUGE foo fighters (and nirvana!) fan, I'm really looking to get the plate for my fender stratocaster signed by the guys, particularly Dave and Pat.

So.. Is there any way I can do this? They don't tour the UK often. I didn't see any official meetups but is there anywhere the band just meets fans at all before the event? I'm really determined to get it signed, it would be absolutely amazing.

If lucks on your side you might bump into them walking about, no doubt they'll look round London whilst they're here

There are no official meet and greets unless as part of a competition prize and I dont know of any for the London shows. But worth keeping an eye on social media in case a competition pops up on local radio stations etc.

The only other way is to be lucky and see the guys outside the venue or around the area. They are generally happy to stop and sign things as long as:
a) They are not with family
b) They have the time
c) You are not stalking them

Sometimes luck is on your side

I didn't claim to be sick, i didn't list any special circumstances. I'm just a big fan. I never made a thread or DM'd anyone asking for special requests. I'm not sure what you mean by linking those threads.

Fair enough. Poppy summarized the situation pretty well then. A lot of times, you can try your luck before or after a show at the venue entrance/exit, although there are no guarantees. They don't do official things or meet-ups for fans (which is what I thought you meant originally), but will occasionally stop for autographs or photos if you catch them at the right time.

That being said, I know some musicians are hesitant on signing actual instruments or pick guards due to a fear that people might try to sell them afterward. Not sure if the Foos are the same way or not in that respect. But if that were the case, I might have something else along with me just in case...

No chance for a meet and greet. When I saw them in Eugene, OR I ran into Chris Shiflett at breakfast and talked to him for a bit. Didn't want to be that person who asked for a random autograph or selfie but during the show he recognized me on the floor and tossed me a pick at the end of the show.

We get hundreds of letter and emails from people that are healthy and want stuff signed and people that are not healthy and want to meet the band, a shout out, a wedding proposal, etc.

They were just trying to inform you of the fact that we don't have the bandwidth to get stuff to them and back to you for signature. Most people (the jerks that sell on Ebay) wait outside shows and get all the stuff they can signed so yes it's possible but not arrange able.

I'm not playing either when I say hundreds. It increases each year and I have been saying "no" for almost 18 years.

Maybe you could include a disclaimer during the board sign up process to hopefully cut back on some of these threads?

But then I'm sure you'll still get emails from those that don't sign up

You'd think warnings like that would help, sadly they don't. I have a pretty clear warning on my site contact form to say I can't help contacting the band, as well as making it clear in several other places that it's a fansite with no official connection. Doesn't stop me getting these messages, constantly. Including an absolute fruitcake recently that keeps emailing me to try and talk to "the real Dave Grohl".

Just wanted to let you know that the person that you mentioned is absolutely NOT the real Dave Grohl. You are referring to one of a number of inferior fraudulent identity thieves! Yours is the phoney with the feather tattos on his forearms. I call that particular fraudulent identity thief, "Frank Hepplefief." His singing voice is far inferior to the real Dave Grohl's! Also, it sounds incestious for a man to say, "My sweet Virginia, make it stop" to his mother. Further, that man is NO writer - of songs, or otherwise.
Lastly, many of the song lyrics off of the CD, Wasting Light, are direct quotes right out of my mouth, including the album title itself! I am the one that the REAL Dave Grohl is looking for.
The real Dave is the one in the 'Run' video, apparently.

Amazing.

Kirri was telling me about another crazy (named Virginia?) while we were in Adelaide together. I don't envy you for dealing with this shit but at least it's sometimes entertaining

Yeah, same one. It started out amusing but soon just got annoying and very bizarre. Blocked her now. It's mostly the usual personal requests but sometimes I do just get bizarre or delusional ones, like the guy in India who seemingly thought you can arrange a gig with a huge band like Foo Fighters via an online contact form on a fan site. He sent me full on plans, risk assessments, proposed venues etc. He didn't want me to forward it to management of the band, he thought we could arrange it.

This one sounds like it could be the same one on FB calling everyone a 'fake fan!'
