Default The Sound and the Fury

As I sit here waitin' for a few months for a live dose of badass Rock 'N' Roll from our beloved FF's, I can't help but note just all of the great sonic parts of Wasting Light -(some of the middle section wailin' guitars on Arlandria, of course the incendiary White Limo and Bridge sections I get lost in, and that repeatin' riff towards the end of I Should Have Known just to name a few),

This got me wonderin' about other memorable parts or sections of their songs which really get Foo fans real real gone, head over heels. Maybe you have a favourite section or sonic gem from their material you'd like to share?

[Neil Young had a great album in the 90s called Arc, which was comprised purely of sonic collages of his great live stuff- I bet the FF's could easily double that!]
anyways

cheers:>

Mine would be the video version of the song "Walking After You". The acoustic guitar part floats and the fact that Dave enunciates each word completely right down to the last "t" or "p" or "k" at the end of the word. It's so perfect, so well defined.

I also love the words in the song "Stranger Things Have Happened". I can visualize in my mind the entire setting when Dave sings, "God damn this dusty room, this hazy afternoon, as I lay awake and wait for you to come through that door"...etc.

He paints verbal pictures.

Miss The Misery.

the part where the song "ends" just to fool you but the chorus blasts again out of nowhere, that just gives me the chills even after hundreds of listens. genius, just genius.

but I also love ther verse parts in Erase/Replace, the middle section of The Pretender where the chorus comes back similarly to MTM, or the riff after the "done, done, on to the next one..." in All My Life.

I love this band.

The bit in Hey! Johnny Park, when it goes into the brief "solo" instrumental and then builds back in with Taylor on snare. 2.58 and into the line, "now that ive found my reward.."

also the bit in Up in Arms. the drum fill before it kicks in. love it.

If you're talking about the album, those are both Dave on drums.

he probably knows that, it's just automatic assimilation. I know since forever that those are Dave's drums but when I read that, I didn't even notice the mistake.

Also, the end of But, Honestly when it picks up.Also, Let It Die with 'Did you ever think of me, you're so considerate'... the palm-muted guitar... so awesome.

I also love the "...and tonight I thank the stars as I count my lucky scars" bit

I have 3:

1. I know I'll probably catch hell for this, but I have always loved the whispering section in Everlong.

2. The seven chords repeated over and over again by the lead guitar in New Way Home when Dave is singing "I felt like this on my way home..." really quietly.

3. At about 6:15 into Come Back when the acoustic solo part ends and the chorus comes back at full power.

1. The ending of Aurora
2. The ending of Resolve
3. The ringing guitars in the chorus of the demo for DOA. They give me a joyful floaty feeling in my heart.
4. Chris and Taylor's harmony lines in Rope (Taylor's with the verses, Chris with the choruses. I sing along with their harmonies every time I listen to it. I could listen to the chorus ten times in a row)

Nah, I meant when But, Honestly picked up and then the other part separately for Let It Die. I'm not THAT much of a scrub.

EDIT: Wow, re-reading that post... it's terribly written. I could see why you think that. Let me go back and edit it. I will contribute it to my sleepyness.

Nah, look up Rope live.

It's just Dave and Taylor.

Shoot...it really does sound like Chris singing during the chorus.

*shoves fingers in ears, sings la la la, is in denial*

I know that 'best of you' is played way too often for most people's liking.
But the most memorable section is when they play it live; and Dave does
his little finger flicky thing and the audience just sings it out.

And also that little bridge riff on Weenie Beenie.

He's all "no, YOU sing it." XD
