Default A drawing...

Whoops. Tried to post a link to drawing of Dave Grohl that I've done. Sadly, because I'm a newbie, I can't post links yet - didn't know that. However, it's on my profile page (I'm bromley001) at the DeviantART website. Feel free to go look.

Thanks for the link. Glad you like it, people.
I've had two people tell me that it make a nice tattoo. I'd like to see that. I couldn't have it myself, I wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm hoping to get a 'FF' logo tattoo, but that's gonna cost me more than I was expecting. It's thirteen years since I last had a tattoo (only a crappy little Japenese symbol - for 'artist') so I've no idea how much they cost these days!

While I'm here... Is there a dedicated thread for newbies to introduce themselves? There usually is on other boards I've visited. Only I can't find one... :/

Why, thank you Puddle!

What can I tell you about me that's worth knowing? Well, my name's Si, and I'm here in Sheffield, home of Def Leppard, Pulp and Arctic Monkeys.
I'm 32 and spend my days drawing, listening to music, and watching Science Fiction DVDs! SF-wise, I'm a massive fan of Doctor Who and Red Dwarf, Rock Music-wise, I'm a massive fan of Foo Fighters (obviously) and Aerosmith.
I'm Epileptic and Diabetic, so I spend a lot of time taking tablets and giving myself injections! It also means that I don't get to gigs, not only because I can't afford them (which I can't), but also because I've a feeling that the flashing lights at Rock gigs may well result in me collapsing in a heap with an epileptic fit after about ten minutes or so!
I got into Rock and Metal in my mid-teens. Aerosmith headlined the Monsters of Rock festival in 1994, and so I grew my hair and bought Kerrang! I got a tape when I was 16. It was some band featuring that guy out of Nirvana...
Alas, nowadays, the hair has gone (not through choice), but I still listen to great music.
Foos-wise, I had that first album on tape, plus Monkey Wrench on a single, and There Is Nothing Left To Lose. That was it for *years*. Then last year, I realised I really ought to have more Foos stuff. Bought myself the other studio stuff and found I'd really missed out! Things *really* came to a head when I saw Back and Forth a few weeks ago, and I became a born-again Foos fanatic!
So, er, yeah.That's me. Sorry.

Laters.

I fucking love Alex Turner, and the Arctic Monkeys, I have always thought Sheffield is a Artsy place. Blue Collar type of art.
Sheffield dialect sounds mumble mumble mumble, is it true?
Because I always have to turn my head slightly to understand it.
Interviews with Alex Turner are what I base this conclusion on.
It could be just my imagination. Running away with me.

Puddle - I heard an interview with Alex on the radio recently. There are certain Sheffield folk who sound a bit...dozy...when they're interviewed. I never thought my own accent was that pronounced until I went to University down in South Wales, where people couldn't understand me a lot of the time! It was while I was down there that the Arctics first broke, and hearing Alex's Yorkshire tones made me homesick!
Pulp's Jarvis Cocker has a great voice - when I was a kid in the early 80s, I used to live next door to him, and the band practised in a garage in the yard at the back of our house.
Happy times.

Wow, I had to look up Jarvis Cocker on You Tube to see what I have been missing. He writes some cool songs. I thought Joe Cocker was from Sheffield too, I don't know, maybe not? I will browse youtube more to catch some of Jarvisisisisis live stuff. I honestly have not been exposed to him yet. He sounds like a rock star.

Yea, I would say Dozy describes the mumble mumble mumble and is a very cool sounding dialect, I only use my big Southern Draw dialect when I am trying to impress myself.
Wellll, gaw daing! I did it again!
So uhm, well, could you start with a blank piece of Paper, and come up with a new FF logo? One that will knock our socks off? I would use it as my screen saver if you did! But I don't have any money to offer right now, just so you know, Kids, and fast women have already been through my wallet. LoL
It's just something you can do when...If you have free time.
Going to see some Pulp Vids now..

Yep, Sheffield's finest include Joe Cocker, actor Sean Bean, and Monty Python star Michael Palin, plus the members of Def Leppard, Pulp and Arctic Monkeys. Comedian/actor Eddie Izzard attended University in the city, and Bruce Dickinson of NWOBHM Gods Iron Maiden grew up in the area, moving to Sheffield as a young boy.

Oh yeah. Sheffield's where it's at!

Hmm. A new Foos logo, huh? I'll think about it. Are you thinking of a completely new font, or just a new way of looking at the familiar FF?

The original FF logo font is nearly perfect, but I was imagining something completely different. I really don't know what.

The history of Sheffield is cool, I would get a metal detector and go over every inch of my yard, hoping to find an original sword or knife, or Sheffield cross. What can I say, I'm a dreamer.

I thought about what you said, Puddle, and after something my sister said, came up with this this afternoon:

Basically, the trick is that it reads the same upside down as it does the right way up!

This, and a 'half-ink/half-pencil' version can both be found on my DeviantArt profile - http://bromley001.deviantart.com/
