Default Detroit Thread

Who's going from the board?
I'm from Chicago, but since I refused to go to Lollapalooza this looks like my only Foo show this tour.... barring a winter/spring thing in Chi-town.

Anyone in Detroit know a good spot by the palace to eat after the show?

Can't wait. Get to see my two favorite (current) bands. Rise Against and The FOO FIGHTERS!!!

Yeah, wanted to see them on their home turf so to speak and it doesn't look like they'll be back in the UK for a few months. It'll be the first time I've seen them indoors since 2008 which is a bonus too. Any pointers on what the American crowds gonna be like ?

Show your ID and credit card at the ticket window labelled "will-call only". Typically you can do this 1-2 hours before show time.

VERY cool. Well I am not sure I can give you a comparison to the UK fans cause I have never seen them over there. But, it really all depends over here. I have been to Foo shows where I am up front and literally never got touched....and I have been at a Foo show up front and had to be pulled out because people were pushing so bad/excessive crowd surfers, etc.
So, I never know what to expect. I do know though that in front of Dave is the worse...over to the sides is usually not as crazy and you can enjoy the show!
Hope you enjoy your visit to the states! Probably should have picked something other than Detroit though..LOL its not our prettiest city

HAHA. I wonder why they picked Detroit as well. They're going to have to take a visit to 8 mile.

Hope you're not driving a nice car.

Hi n thanks for all the advice. Sounds like the US crowds are similar to in the UK. I got floor tickets but tend to hang back a bit anyway - way too old for the front. I know about 8 mile and I hear Flint can be a bit rough too ? To be honest I picked Detroit cos I've got family nearby so it makes it easier.Don't think I'll be actually in Detroit at all and I'm definitely not driving.

That makes sense! I have never had any problems in Detroit actually. It has bad parts like any other big city.

Have fun!! (13 More days!!!!!)

Sounds incredible - I was already impressed anyway by how many times you've seen them. Have an amazing time

I suppose the road trips are a bit easier in England as everywhere's a bit closer together. I'd have liked to have added another show like Pittsburgh but couldn't work it out. You're obviously not bothered by the same set list every night They are the best live band around so you've gotta go while you get the chance is my philosophy.

I'll be cheeky and ask another question - in the UK bands will typically finish about 10-30pm. Is it the same in the US ?

Nope, not bothered by the same setlist every night at all! Because there is always something different that happens..and yeah got to see them as much as possible while I can. Plus i have this nagging feeling that if I didnt go to a show that was closeish then I would forever regret it haha

The shows usually end around 11:30 PM or midnight I would say...

Auburn Hills is like a hour away from detroit..... anyways Detroit isn't that bad. 8 Mile isn't either. I go to both all the time and never have any problems.

I wanted to try to go to more but have no one to go with, I would have been going to to those other 2 as well but Im going to the Detroit and Cleveland shows.

I hate the same set lists every show hahaha.

At least for the echoes tour detroit was in the winter, and cleveland was in the sumemr so it was changed a bit.

I guess I wish I woulda seen Incubus twice this year, they change like 5 songs every night, and don't play 20 hits.

Man, I remember that February Detroit show...my sister and I were first in line (got there at like 11??) It was FREEZING!! lol Cause that place is right on a river or something haha we were all bundled up. It was crazy.

You should have went by yourself! I have resorted to that before (just once thankfully) but it was still worth it

Very true - last time for me it was Taylor nearly coming in too early on Young Man Blues and Chris laughing at him. Like you say every gigs different in some way.

Yeah after Milton Keynes this year which was real close to being ruined by the dickheads in the crowd I swore I wouldn't go to any more outdoor shows in England. But I know damn well I will when next summer comes around.

I would totally go on my own too if needs be.

I just got my tickets today for this show and it came with a waiver form to be filled out in order to receive a wristband to get into the "mosh pit" area. I have never seen this before. Really weird. The venue must just be terrified of being sued! So anyways, did anyone else get this? It says you will get through faster if you bring the waiver, signed, and a copy of your drivers liscense. This is obsurd
