Thats the answer I wanted. I remember someone in another thread stating that the Japanese edition had an extra track.

Yeah, I saw that too. I think it was clarified to be a typo by the retailer.

40 min or so.

Great stuff, but they could have done a lot more I think.

I was surprised the Mantra video from RS truly was/is exclusive to them, I'd assumed it would have just been an early exclusive before it was included as an extra. That's how that sort of thing usually rolls but not in this case it seems.

Any idea which of these songs are old Grohl originals and which are songs that have just happened as jams besides You Canīt Fix This which is already confirmed as being a IYH era leftover?

For some reason A Trick With No Sleeve reminds me of the OBO era, it has a similar vibe to it.. Could also be that the 6/8 rhythm signature reminds me of Normal. I really, really like this song, for me itīs by far the best song on Sound City.

Mantra could also be from the IYH era, the vocal melody sounds similar to the songs on the acoustic side.

I don't think Mantra is a Dave (only) song.

Are we just talking music wise or lyrics? I was pretty sure Stevie wrote the lyrics in regards to her god son overdosing.

Again musically I think it's quite clear that it was born from a jam.
Lyrically it feels to me like Josh and Trent definitely had a hand in the lyrics.

Dave's said multiple times that "The Man Who Never Was" was an old Foo Fighters track that was going to be on IYH, but that it felt too much like a ________ song.

Can't remember the artist. Brain fart.

Yeah it really does have that IYH sort of feel. It's been reminding me of one of the tracks from it every time I've listened.

Seeing as how there are about 50 songs from the IYH sessions, I wouldn't be surprised if a good few of these songs originate from then.

But can anybody link me to where Dave stated Fix This and Never Was were from then?

Yeah, it feels a lot like that. Damn, I can't find the interview where he talks about it. It's on the tip of my tongue, I just can't remember who the artist was.

Yeah, YCFT was left off IYH for sounding too like Fleetwood Mac is the line that Dave has given in a few places (Zane Lowe being the 1st I can recall) I haven't heard him say the same about TMTNW.
