My husband has tinnitus, he always has ringing in his ears, always, never stops, all the time. No cure, till he dies high pitched ringing.
It's from concerts when he was young.

I took mine in and out, but yes I think you should wear hearing protection at all shows.

At indoor gigs at least, yes. I have tinnitus and I don't want it to get worse, so I'll be wearing mine in November.

Listen to the wise ladies and not so wise me, wear earplugs at every loud rock show you go to if you value your hearing at later ages.

The only time you can really get away without them is if you're a long way back from the speakers in a large indoor venue or relatively far back outdoors.

Also don't think they will make the show sound worse. Those cheap, basic foam ones designed for sleeping and dampening construction type noise might do but spend a little more for a good set designed for music and you'll still get a great sound and feeling, just without the harsh, dangerous dB levels.

These sorts of thing - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elacin-ER20S...ords=ear+plugs

We've got Standing tickets and we want to get to the stage as near as possible.

We've got These foam things at home but maybe I'll look for those Special ones.
Thanks guys.

The special ones mentioned above are nice. I also wore some similar to the ones below for years playing drums in rock bands as well as for concerts. They are really comfortable and things still sound normal with them in, not muffled like with the cheap foam ones.

My experience with ear plugs is that what works for one person may not work for you, so if possible I would get a couple of pairs to try out to see which one you prefer. Good luck!

I've had some brief bouts with tinnitus in the past, but oddly enough, my ears don't really suffer from it in the aftermath of concerts for some reason. They certainly didn't after these Foo shows I went to over the past few weeks and I was always near the speakers at the front of the barrier.

That being said, I really should start wearing earplugs myself for the long-term aspect of things! So that is good advice there.

With any luck, all of you will get to 48 and 57 and 65--you really want to preserve your hearing for as long as possible.

My neck still hurts from banging my head Sunday, but my ears never rang at all.

We drove 10.5 hrs to the Nashville show and even though I saw the setlist dwlindling down to 20/21 songs I think everyone expected a show closer to 2.5 hours and a few more songs... we saw the MN show - 26 songs... the lame crowd in Nashville I thought made the Foos quit early but then the same setlist in Memphis... maybe they are just tired... they have been on the road a long time. Don't get me wrong Nashville was super - but we were ready for more... were tempted to go to Memphis - but glad we didn't since it was the same set...

It was the same thing when I went to the Wichita show last week. After going to the Chicago and Kansas City shows, it seems like Dave is just getting kind of tired. Can't say that I blame him.

I'm starting to wonder if I should sell my ticket for the Honda Center show next weekend. Don't know if I want to spend all day trying to get the rail and then hear the exact same show I did at the Forum last month.

OTOH, if I'm on the rail, I probably won't care

I'm too keen on how they have been opening with Everlong followed by Monkey Wrench a lot recently. I think Monkey Wrench belongs mid set and Everlong near the end.

They've been going back n forth with that & I totally agree. Everlong belongs at the end.
