Dave should cover Polly, because he would always sing backup vocals with Kurt and his voice is almost better then Kurts in that song. Listin to the version from Nevermind.

Dave, Krist and Pat should get back together and tour with Paul Rodgers and some time later release a live CD called "Nirvana + Paul Rodgers".

I'm pretty sure that's Kurt on lead and backing vocals on that one, and I'm also pretty sure that version of "Polly" was recorded before Dave joined the band.

Yes it was but they added daves vocal harmonies after and it was remixed by andy wallace. See the CLassic ALbums:Nevermind DVD

If it makes you feel any better, I thought it was "rare" all these years, too. Not that I really care, the lyrics are still meaningless.

Meaningless, but not necessarily bad!

Wow. Well there could be a chance Dave doesn't have it also, I mean, I've been searching for some real rare QotSA songs (Oppenheimer's Brother and Sherbert) which were recorded around the time of the S/T demos, I contacted the studio they were recorded at, and Josh Homme took all the tapes and masters with him. I then found out from someone who interviewed him that he lost the tapes a long time ago. Maybe that's happened to Dave. Also if Dave is the last person you can get it from, you will probab;y never hear it, as I'm pretty sure he won't ever leak it...

the Foos doing an instrumental version of this would be awesome. and i don't think it would be 'wrong', either, coz it's Dave's song too.
Yeah, I think he did come up with that main riff. On the rehearsal version on the box-set you can hear Dave saying "I wrote this song, it goes... it goes...(starts playing)...it goes" then he starts it back up again and Krist jumps in. Then I guess Kurt picks up his guitar while Dave jumps behind the kit. Cool Stuff.

From what I gathered, it was Kurt doing the backing vocals.

Doesn't Butch Vig even say "Kurt had an amazing voice" or something along those lines as he starts playing the backing vocals?

It's been a while since I've seen it.

I think there was two Kurt tracks used on In Bloom and one of Dave doing backing vocals and all three were used. On Polly from Nevermind I think it's one Dave backing vox and one Kurt. You can certainly hear Dave. I love Polly from unplugged because you can hear Dave's backing vox clearly and they are really good:

Sad update on this.

I had some downtime and decided to reopen the investigation of the track since it has been 7 years. (Back when I was a college freshman )

I did some googling and found some additional contact information for people who might be close to the recording. Specifically, I was looking for the woman who was reported to have heard the track (and was connected to the leaking of the 96 Lang sessions)

After corresponding over email with Robert Lang himself he informed me that the primary source of the 96 sessions, and the person who supposedly heard this track, had passed away in August.

Unfortunately, we wont ever know more unless Dave decides to comment on it.
