So after looking at the Statesman, it's tickets to the movie screening that go on sale 15 min. before it starts. NOT necessarily where the not-so-secret show is going to be. I'm still going to try to get tickets to that, but I have a feeling that's a long shot, considering how popular this screening is going to be. I think badge-holders are going to fill the place up.

I asked the Craigslist guy (the one posted previously on this thread) how he knew FF were playing @ Stubb's tonight. His response: "the sales director for mediatemple (who is the company sponsoring the closing party) gave me the wristband and told me that they were playing but it hadn't been announced yet." Take it with a grain of salt, though. I don't know anyone to ask who would know for sure. The drivers from the limo last night said they wouldn't know until today.

That's why Foo Fighters need a Fan Club and they make sure they get a certain amount of allocated tickets especially for events like these. I was at Stubbs 2 years ago for the Metallica Guitar Hero party at SXSW. Dave come on you were at Metallica HQ you should have a fan club like Metallica's or Pearl Jam's Ten Club. Yes it costs money but there are people willing to pay to support and get tidbits for special events in "Times Like These".

I'm glad I didn't bail on work today to make the 400 mile trip to Austin. Invitation only indeed...the fan club idea is definitely something that needs implemented.

Problem is that would have to charge $40-$80 and provide content for people to join and renew each year.

And while I think $80 is somewhat ridiculous, there are those that would pay it without question. $40 is more reasonable as long as there is something tangible for your membership dues...maybe some exclusive downloads, a T Shirt, a chance at some hard to find memorabilia, etc. With that membership you should also get a shout out for upcoming secret shows, saying "first 250 people to go to this website <www.blahblah.com> are guaranteed tickets to this event."

I know I'm being hopeful here but that invitation only BS is just that...BS. I get that there are sponsors that need to get their money's worth for events such as these, but there is a medium to be had here to please some of the fans also. Some of those fans at the Wednesday event won't even be FF fans...they will be fans of some of the other acts that will be there.

I'm rambling...and Twitter just updated with something so I'm off.

Trust me its just the hype. Its hard to get into and the invites are thru the industry/SXSW snobs. $50 says there will be someone in the press that gets in takes pictures then goes back into the audience a few rows back and gets kicked out like 2 years ago for the Stubbs Metallica Guitar Hero party. Look out for that guy!

Yeah... Not possible. Has to be a raffle. You will have more complaints. Memberships went up for Pearl Jam Ten Club. $40 to $80 is reasonable for one year. Plus you have to find ways to make money for a fan club other than memberships. Plus you want people to renew.

It's the world premier of the documentary, so obviously this gig following will have a massive guestlist of friends & the like who showed up for that, but would Dave be tweeting teases if this gig was 100% invite only?
Saying that I'd guess that of these club gigs they've this'd be the hardest to get tix for.

I have a friend in Austin who is trying to get in. They were giving out wristbands at the Paramount Theatre (where the movie is premiering) for the show, but apparently they were only giving them to badgeholders. I don't know enough about SXSW to know how you get a badge, but I guess that's what they are doing.
