I think the attitude to take the preasure away and to make the album at the time the Foos want to is the best concept to make the new album a really good one!

Couldn't agree more. As long as it is soon!

I bet it will be soon. Dave and the guys aren't ones for sitting around too long. It's the same with most bands. Once you have a nice batch of songs and it gets into album mode the music just wants to come out and you have to get it on tape. Some guys can sit on songs for years, others have to get them down on tape and flesh them out right away. I think Dave is that way. I can't see him having an idea for a song and sitting on it, and then remembering his idea a lot later.

You know what I love about this group, ok were all fanboys an girls true...but havinn said that I really believe that their records do progress and tell a story of their music life as we move along...from Daves nearly solo origins to the DIY TINLTL Up to the energetic eruptive WL
I just feel like we see them creating and playing in the best sense with what the world has given them...
No bands since the Who have had such progressions and steps yet remained quintessential in the midst of the Rock n Roll circus...

Maybe well get a Quadrophenia type Sprawl
maybe a tighter Whos Next or Who Are You...
Whatevs it will be recognizable though
and as the group we all love love love...
And I get the feelin they will do things exactly their way
shapin a landscape and takin no prisoners across the world
as we all get another dose of
Awesome tuneage...

Meet you all in that wicked Groove

I think it depends. They write a shit load of songs, lots are duds, some aren't ready, some aren't what they're looking for. Bridge Burning was a leftover from the OBO sessions, for example and needed a long break to come together. Like White Limo with IYH. When some scope comes together with songs that are ready in context of the album they're trying to achieve they'll get to it, but that's not really something they can rush or time, nor can we really predict unless they've said otherwise?

Also wondering the source on that, I've never heard it.

Neither have I (although it wouldn't surprise me if that opening riff had been kicked around for awhile before ending up on an album).

Taylor mentions new record, still so vague..

“It’s coming along. It’s getting there. We’ve got a lot of tunes. We’re working on them. We’re making them as good as we can. We just keep playing them over and over again because we’re always looking for new little angles on songs.”

So, what did Dave Grohl mean when he said the band is making the new album in a way that’s never been done before?

“The way it’s going to be conceived, it’s going to be different for us and in any way we’ve ever made it,” Taylor replied. “I don’t know too many bands who have done it the same way we have done it. And musically, it’s us.”

Playing the songs over & over? So recording the tracks live in one take is still my guess. The song board in Shifty's instagram pic either isn't the band's or its a sort of rehearsal board?

Yep, I think recording live in one take is what they're aiming for also.

99% sure it's a board for the demos they are recording for the album. It's the same handwriting/blocking styles as the previous album sessions.

Yeah, I remember it being referenced on here from an interview around the time of WL's release, one of the band were mentioning how old songs need time like White Limo and mentioned that Bridge Burning, or some small iteration of it (maybe just the main riff) was being kicked around since OBO. Or maybe it was nonsense or i'm imagining it

Taylor talks about the new record at 2.45 onward:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VB8CO...Kp6m9hXlyZxVQf

Asked what's different this time, he mentions "the way it's made, and what goes with it."

And another interview with Taylor from today. At 5.30 the interviewer asks him if the new album will be new material played/recorded live in front of an audience and Taylor says no, it won't. So that's one option ruled out.
