I'd say Them Crooked Vultures time but QotSA are in the process of recording their album and preparing for a tour.

Good news for Foo Fighter fans, although it’s uncertain how long the band will be taking a break.

Message from Dave Grohl
Quote:
Hey everyone...

Dave here. Just wanted to write and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for another incredible year. (Our 18th, to be exact!) We truly never could have done any of this without you...

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn't think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world.

Yes... I was serious. I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. It feels strange to say that, but it's a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It's one of the reasons we're still here. Make sense? I never want to NOT be in this band. So, sometimes it's good to just... put it back in the garage for a while...

But, no gold watches or vacations just yet... I'll be focusing all of my energy on finishing up my Sound City documentary film and album for worldwide release in the very near future. A year in the making, it could be the biggest, most important project I've ever worked on. Get ready... it's coming.

Me, Taylor, Nate, Pat, Chris, and Rami... I'm sure we'll all see you out there... somewhere...

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Dave

You know what the most important part of that message was to me? Rami was included as part of the band.

I thought that too, strange. Maybe he'll play on like 7 songs next tour?!

We did, but I figured this would quash any doubts. I was there and heard what he said. It in no way indicated they were over.

Dammit, I wanted to post the video clip from The Notebook, "It's not over..." but all the clips were followed by a Daughtry song, and that is so not what I wanted to go for.

Regardless, it made me think of that scene. I'd like to recreate that with Dave. Just sayin'....

I'm glad to hear this.
Dave, the Foo Fighters, and his/their music, they are a part of my life.
They work for their music, the energy that comes out when they enter the stage, that's the thing that makes sense to me, not just Biebers and Minajs..
I've seen them 2 times now, last year and this year, just amazing.
When the Foo Fighters stopped, it should have to take a loooong time for me to recover from that suffer..

Yeah..
Dave, I hope I'll hope I see you again at some time, maybe next year, or in 10 more years.. You're definitely my hero.

These guys have been my favorite band since I was in 6th grade. I don't think I had even hit puberty yet. Just the possibility of them being done freaks me out.

I'm glad this isn't it.

media is really blowing this way way out of proportion, but dave's comments dont help. Wasting Light tour is over - they need a break. They have basically been touring since late 2010.

Dave said at the end of their music midtown set they are going to go away for awhile, record an album and then come back out.

Seems like a standard thing to do once the tour is over.

Theyre simply doing what they did last time... take a little break for themselves. If the result is another Wasting Light? Bring it!

Remember the last break gave us a FF documentary, Them Crooked Vultures, more Coattail Riders, Sunny Day Real Estate Reunion and The Dead Peasants. Itll likely lead to only more of that good stuff, plus a new Wallflowers album too

Its all good. I need a beer.
