Default Can we start a petition for a Live album?

I know we have the Skin and Bones live album but I have always wanted a full on live Foo Fighters album. Not that the SB acoustic show is bad, I Love it!.

Has anyone heard or read a reason as to why Dave hasn’t released a live LP?

I'd say it's because Dave's voice sounds pretty average live because the show is way more about the overall rock performance (him running around, the crowd interaction and jams etc) than it is about him serenading us, which is why you're more likely to get a DVD than an album. I'm ready for another acoustic one though!

I wouldn't mind a live album.

There should also be a petition for the band to play half-time at the Super Bowl. It's way overdue.

There should be a petition for another live online stream from Studio 606. That was simply AMAZING last time.

When they played the entire "Wasting Light" album? That was so damn good. I really should try to download it before it disappears.

I swear I read somewhere that they had been in the running before, but that they weren't too keen.

It would make a lot of sense on a lot of levels, but it would also be the final nail in the coffin in any punk cred Dave may yet retain

I'd say the punk cred has been no more for the last 15 years..

They give shout outs to their punk past every now and then but as their music is more and more 70s AOR I think they dont have to worry about the punk thing anymore..

Yes, you're both talking about the same live performance I believe. That was amazing. I said it at the time, it would be great if they did the same for every album, going back to the beginning.

Even if they didn't live stream them and sold them, i would buy each one.

I sort of remember Dave saying around that time that they never released a live album due to the songs sounding almost like the album versions (or something to that extent anyway). That was supposed to be the reason they released Skin & Bones in the first place, since a lot of the arrangements and instruments differed enough to warrant it.

I wouldn't oppose a proper live album at some point. But those things can be a bit hit or miss anyway. Live albums from other bands can get fans complaining about how it wasn't "mixed" properly, or the crowd volume is too high/low, or how there's too many or too few songs, etc.

Right now, I've been doing okay with the live bootlegs and shows that are either soundboard quality or very close to it. So it's not like there's no decent live recordings out there even now.

Frampton Comes Alive and Live at Budokan are really the only two live albums I've ever heard and liked. I hope they don't do one

I've never been overly keen on live albums or live tracks as bonuses as they always sound a bit rubbish..
We all know music is no where near as polished when played live, but when your bouncing along to it in the pit you don't notice, driving in the car or sitting on the couch I'd rather just have a properly recorded studio version.

Video is another matter, I'm loving the amount of streamed and recorded Foo's concerts we get these days as at least with video you get some of the feeling of being there.

Well the live album to me is a bit pointless, there are many live DVDs they released, and like many, I have them ripped for listening via audio anyhow.

But the Studio 606 WL performance was a cool idea (and fun to watch) and I still think it would be great if they did similar w/ each album.

Some bands suit the live album format. Iron Maiden are releasing about their 15th live album soon. Live After Death was one of the first records I bought.

Ramones also sounded great on live albums. Pearl Jam also. Nirvana with MTV Unplugged, Kiss consider their live albums better than the studio versions.

I do agree that if the Foos were to do it they would need to edit out the jams and maybe some of the crowd improv stuff or record a show specifically for a live record.

TCATS20@606 <3

I've never been interested in live albums unless they're special versions (unplugged/acoustic, symphonic, etc). So, yeah, that's a no for me, especially since we would get the most meh setlists.

I'd love them to go the same route as Metallica, Pearl Jam & release each of their shows on cd.

Hw would you choose the track listing ? I don't think anyone would agree with which performances are the right ones to go for. That is if you were going for a live compilation album like Nirvana's FTMBOTW. Then again if you were going for a single show it would still be a tough one to choose.
