The obvious suggestion (in my opinion) would be them doing a "Brits Week War Child" gig. Shepherds Bush Empire was one of the venues for that last year (saw Biffy at theirs).

Definitely possible, when would that get announced/tickets be released?

Last year they were announced 17th January to start with and a couple added afterwards (Biffy being announced on the 31st).

What was cool about the Biffy one was they decided against a support act, and did a 'support' set of all old material, then had a 15 minute break into their 'main' general set.

Edit: the tickets then went on sale the same week Friday respectively* (20th Jan & 3rd Feb)

*Some tickets go on sale for a price (e.g. £50) and then the rest are from a ballot**

The remaining tickets will be available via prize draw, where you can enter a ballot to win a pair of tickets by making a £5 donation at www.britsweekwarchild.co.uk .

By the way, the BRITs chair seems to think they've been on a 'recent sold out UK tour'. Eh? What?
or maybe they'd never been invited to perform before, for some unfathomable reason?

it's not the same thing to show up to collect and award, and to show up to play their latest single

but really, we all know the real reason is that Dave was missing the bangers and mash

Ah that's cool, it'd be nice for Foos to do something similar.

Remember we said they surely wouldn't just come over here to do that one C&G gig last year, but they did. Can't predict them these days.

I'm not stressed about secret gigs because I have zero chance of ever making one.

These days getting rids of the kids for the day requires military precision planning, at least a month in advance. So, last-minute twitter announcements... hah .

Well I'm easing the stress aren't I? I'm saying they came over here just to do one thing last year and nothing else, could easily do the same again, ie just fly in for the BRITs, bit of press, then off again.

Yess!!! Someone said that on Twitter that would be ace. and like you said what Biffy did last year was epic supporting themselves.

again, all this way for 1 or 2 songs?! plus a bit of press...maybe an announcement of further UK shows/Reading + Leeds festival. I'm hoping there's more to it.

Ahh, but they did do the RAH as well as promoting C&G so they actually did quite a bit during that time over here

I was referring to the Cheese And Grain show, which was the sole reason they came all the way to Europe at that point. Sure, a whole show is different to one song but just noting that it's not out of the question they come here solely for the Awards, in terms of performances.

People are also assuming that the Brits is their only commitment in the uk or Europe. Since we already have 3 uk shows this year plus Glasto, C&G & The O2 last year, they may not even do a secret show in the uk, which is fair enough, and may decide to do one elsewhere.

Yep. But they did do other stuff such as film at Worthy Farm, and attend Brits After Parties. So, this time it seems Brits is the sole reason but surely they're doing promo for Reading/Leeds as well?
