Genuinely, can someone get in touch with Dave to sort out this chess match?

I feel like coming here is basically calling me out on my turf.

Just driven past the site - looks like it may be a tad muddy.

Yeah, the Foo Fighters were definitely louder than the other bands. Which was awesome.

Set was OK, but they didn't play New Way Home or Aurora or Winnebago (or headwires). Best of You and Learn to Fly continue to be low points of any Foo Fighters set.

Overall, I had a lot of fun, but I think they took this too much as a festival set rather than their own show, I expect Reading and Leeds to have the same sets.

Good, but this was their first time here (Dave was here in another band called Nirvana) so rattling off the hits/Wasting Light stuff was probably inevitable, but there you go.

As for the Black Keys, they're pretty much a 2012 American Kaiser Chiefs, awful band and two of their retarded fans were yelling during their whole set to the point no one could hear their singer. Oh well.

Also, Vital's pit pass is bollocks.

When I was going in I saw parents picking their drunken underage kids up from security - that was definitely a first.

Backstage was full of dissappointed people with romantic ideas of what it should have really been like. It was nice to use a properly plumbed toilet that 3,000 people hadn't already pissed on the floor of though.

Your man from Westlife has gone 'rock' and was leaping around with his actress missus & Stetson wearing pals, in much the same way a toddler pretends to 'rock out'. (I for one await his inevitable solo assault on the charts on the edge of my seat).

Chris's Alternative Ulster riff was nice, as was Dave pointing to his Mother during the "My sweet Virginia..." lines and his regular spiel during wheels that they'd come back & play a tiny club made way for a more believable promise to not leave it so long before playing Belfast again.

I also don't understand the point in issuing Pit Passes if your going to regularly let non holders in? And the people they did let in were total dicks.

And the space of time between finishing Everlong & being buckled into their car seats & offsite was, without exaggeration, about 25 seconds. They're a finely tuned machine.

Some of the people I saw didn't see to know where they were. They had that much make up on and were dressed like they were in a nightclub. They looked miserable, which was nice, because what the fuck are you doing? I had wellies and a poncho ready to go.

PONCHO!!

I'll be watching all of the Black Keys set on Friday so I can keep a place for the Foo Fighters. But I actually kinda like the Kaiser Chiefs (I want to hear never miss a beat) so maybe I won't find them too bad...

Black Keys seem to be taking a leaf out of The White Stripes book in that their crew were in suit and tie. All their gear had stuff like This Is A Black Keys Flight Case in the style of their Brothers album.

Did Dave take a shot at the Black Keys as well?

He was saying about "using computers" and "this is what rock music sounds like" when, clearly, I noticed two people at the side of the stage during the Black Keys set doing... stuff.

I mean, maybe he says that everywhere, but in that context...

I actually like The Black Keys even though I started listening to them quite late in the day. Looking forward to seeing them on Sunday at Reading.

Kaisers I could take or leave, but would rather leave these days.

I wouldnt have thought it was a dig - the promoter said it was less FF headlining Vital more Vital letting FF use their site & in that respect they OKed the bill & stuff.

I think Black Keys need a bit of side-of-stage-puppetry to make it sound like its not just two small blokes on a big stage.

Yep. Said it at every US date, at any rate.
