Hi Everyone,

Having been a massive Foo's fan for over a decade now i only just decided to join the postboard after seeing this thread.. I've been collecting Foo's vinyl for a few years now, just picking up bits here and there when they are available.. You know how it is!!.. I do not own a record player and don't intend on ever playing them unless it's once on a usb deck to record the vinyl sound on to digital format.. Anyways, my collection to date goes:

12" Singles

This is a call
Exhausted
Rope
Have a cigar (unofficial)

12" Albums

The colour and the shape (fake copy, shouldn't even be in the list i know)
TINLTL (still with transfer/sticker thing)
One by One
In Your Honor (unopened)
ESPG (unopened)
Greatest Hits

7" singles

I'll stick around
Big me
For all the cows
My hero
Walking after you
Monkey wrench
Everlong
Breakout
Next year
Generator
All my life
Low
Have it all
Times like these
Best of you (UK)
DOA
Pretender
Long road to ruin
Resolve

I know it's not complete but i've got my eye on a couple more just now and one day i'll get that ever elusive TCATS for a decent price..lol.

Cheers

Haven't been on here for a while as been getting married, going on honeymoon, and am currently in Toronto for work.

BUT, got an email today saying I have a box being shipped from What Records.

And in this box will be all of the re-issues + S&B on vinyl.

So that will be waiting for me when I get home, plus my wife has agreed to buy them for me as my birthday present.

Have had a shit load of stuff arrive in recent weeks and haven't had time to update my photos, will do so once I'm back home

You can see my music collection here -

You should have ordered them from Amazon.com dude. They seem to be 25 on What Records and 19 for S/T, that's 144 for the six compared to 100 for the lot including shipping and import tax from Amazom.com.

Hey guys,

Please help me: I've just started collecting the official 7" singles (retail ones firstly) and I really like to know the rarity status of them.

This is a Call - seems easy to find
I'll Stick Around (red) - seems easy to find, but bit expensive
For All the Cows (blue) - easy to find, but expensive
Big Me (white) - easy one again

Monkey Wrench - not a big deal
Everlong (blue) - hard to find and expensive
My Hero (red) - hard to find and expensive
Walking After You - easy to find and cheap

Learn to Fly - hard to find, bit expensive
Generator - hard to find, bit expensive
Breakout - hard to find, bit expensive
Next Year - hard to find, bit expensive

All My Life (US) - easy to find
All My Life (UK) - easy to find
Times Like These - easy to find
Low - easy to find
Have It All - harder to find, bit expensive

Best of You - easy and cheap
D.O.A. - harder to find a cheap one
Resolve - one of the easisest to get

The Pretender (clear) - one of the most rarer retail 7" from FF, expensive
Long Road to Ruin - one of the easisest to get

Am I correct? If not, will you help me correcting that list? Oh, and if any of you have these for trade, please let me know. Unfortunately I only have WAY yet. Thanks in advance!
(Have a sealed Hungarian Wasting Light CD and a nice EMI promo compilation with Drive Me Wild for trade)

I have a few of these... didn't realise they were hard to find or expensive. I'm not really a collector though, just saw a few and picked them up.

p.s. the last "record player" I had was one from infamous "Fisher Price" ( yes I expect a hellalot of laughter from that statement--tis ok;-) Dont judge- I was only 8 yrs old??? and the 45 of Blondie "the tide is high" was a prized possesion-at the time.LOL!

You've done very well with your list

Changes I would make to the above (in general and in comparison) in my opinion would be:

Big Me (white) - Can be harder to find - can be slightly expensive
Everlong (blue) - Medium hard to find - always very expensive
My Hero (red) - Medium hard to find - medium to expensive
Walking After You - Not super easy to find - usually above medium in cost
Learn to Fly - Hard to find - usually expensive
All My Life (US) - Can be harder to find - medium cost when you find one
The Pretender (clear) - Slightly harder to find - starting to get a little more expensive

If you were wanting a list of all the 7" singles you are missing these:

This Is A Call - UK One Sided Promo - becoming rather rare - fairly expensive
This Is A Call - UK Jukebox - fairly rare - medium pricing when available
Monkey Wrench - US Jukebox - reasonably easy to find
My Hero - US Jukebox - reasonably easy to find
Walking After You - US Jukebox - reasonably easy to find
Westlife / Foo Fighters My Love / Next Year - Italian Jukebox - Rare & expensive
The One - UK - Impossible to find - don't try (ONE was made and signed by Dave for a UK competition. It is owned by a very lucky board member)
All My Life EU - NOT numbered - Getting quite rare & expensive
Best Of You US Promo - Getting harder to find - becoming slightly expensive
The Pretender US Promo - Getting harder to find - becoming slightly expensive

Additionally the following three test pressings are known to exist - there must be more but none have ever surfaced or been known to be publically owned.

The One - UK Test Pressing (Maybe 8-10 copies - of The "One" limited 7" above)
All My Life US Test Pressing (8 copies - I own one)
Long Road To Ruin UK/EU Test Pressing (unknown number of copies - Alban on Discogs owns one)

I just bought a mint copy of "Call Me" on 7" to add to my collection. Won't find me arguing lol. And you got to remember - these (age wise) were THE songs Dave and the boys grew up with as hits as teenagers - I know I'm his age.

Point being music is timeless

I would imagine your best bang for your buck from your description would be to buy a medium range USB enabled turntable. No need for any stereo system, play your records direct through your PC, and even record them.

Note I say medium range - not $40 cheap end. No idea for sure where you are but I would say the USA from your Emerson quote lol

Pro-ject would be my favourite. It may seem expensive at $400 but it will last and it will not destroy your records - you can play them over and over again and they wont sound any different if you look after them.

You can go way cheaper - but you get what you pay for, and so does your vinyl. My advice if you cant afford that level, just wait until you can. $400 is medium price - top end is $4000 plus. But everything is relative to what you want. A few records that you can replace then just look at the bottom end.

http://turntablereview.info/sumiko-p...ridge-reviews/

Sumiko is the US distributor - they can tell you local dealers - who may well do a much better deal.

By te way, I received S&B three day ago (plus the Greatest hits a few days before).

The quest for my collection is now officially over (until next album).
