I've noticed alot of file sharing linking to the new songs today. Best Of You was taken down all the time. However, these new links aren't being taken down. Does this mean it is legal to download these new songs? Or are the mods just sleeping?

Technically the songs are the property of Foos and the recording is the property of the BBC, so you'd need permission from both parties for it to be legal...

When I was a teenager, we would hit "record" on our cassette players when a good song came on the radio. Same thing. Technically illegal? Maybe. If the band asks us to stop, then I won't do it, but you can bet that either way I'm going to buy that album the day it's released. I do want the Foos to get the money that they deserve for creating such awesome music!

had I been able to find a radio/cassette player yesterday I would have done that. I do frequently.

I would do that, but where I come from we don't get radio signals clear enough, and I always don't catch the particular song in time.

it would be illegal for a person to upload the song somewhere, but not for us to download it. A distinction that most bands and the RIAA don't want people to realize.

We don't mind stream from radio websites and stuff but being able to download other than itunes?

Where?

Also, if you are really concerned, post this in the right forum.

I'm moving it.

It's out of print, which means you cannot buy it anywhere. EVER.
Ironically, the only place to get it easily is to download it with illegal file sharing software, hehe.
Or eBay, but then you run the risk of wasting your money on a fake (i.e a cd-r that somebody has said is the real deal).
On the plus side, "Friend Of A Friend", from the Pocketwatch tape is on the acoustic disc of In Your Honor, Dave re recorded it, so thats a plus.
