Default Best time to arrive

What is the best time to arrive at the venue (any) to get the best possible GA spot?

Last fall, I managed to snag 5th row, center showing up 45 mins before doors opened and running up to the merch area first (that was a sold out show). This go round I'm planning on before noon for the shows where I want to be neaar the rail and around 3-4 for the ones where I'm driving farther.

Depends on the size of the venue, but certainly mid morning for barrier

I've gotten front row I would say a decent time for various artists/genres (Black keys, neil young, Justin timberlake, luke bryan) and I've never shown up before 1:00-2:00pm? I can't imagine you need to be there at 9:00-10:00am in the morning and sit there for 10 hours.

Obviously venue size does matter, but that seems insane. I could be wrong

For the Australian tours, where they were playing stadiums, people were lining up starting around 5am. This sort of thing is happening globally when they hit up large venues, though it's around lunchtime when those numbers hit the hundreds. However, the early bird does catch the worm.

I have never understood people getting in super early to venues and hogging the barrier. It makes for a pretty unenjoyable time if you are going with people.

I get in sharp and head for the bar once I have sussed out the gold circle situation if there is any. Save your energy and stress and just chill out till the music starts.

In Manchester with a capacity around 50,000 there were people there before 7am easily. Also at The o2 last year if you arrived at 7 you were one of the first, altho by 9/10am there were a lot of people. It does depend on the venue. But I think arriving in the queue for 1/2pm will get you at the end of the barrier, or otherwise a v v good spot 2nd row.

Got on the rail in Eugene and was only waiting outside for an hour and fifteen minutes. This was in December so I don't know how many people were truly wanting to stand in the cold but it definitely varies by location.

Each to their own, I don't do it for every gig but I go with another guy and the waiting is worth the results

Yeah I think a lot of the time there's a group that arrive really early, then a few more filter in throughout the morning, then another big bunch at like 2

I'm hoping to get golden circle/inner pit for both london shows. I'll arrive about 3pm on the friday because thats the earliest I can get out of work. Being right down the front isnt a necessity but I want to be close enough to see them without my glasses and be surrounded by people who know the words (to drown out my singing)
Not sure what time I'll go on Saturday, probably earlier than 3pm as I'm sure it'll be busier. I'll make a judgement closer to the time.
As much as I'd love being on the rail, the lure of the bar is too strong!

Maybe the queue moods are different over there, but for AU tours, meeting up with your friends at the venue in the a.m. is part of the whole experience. Most of us know each other, we get to chill together for most of the day, and we meet new people on the way. Each date they do here draws a long queue, it's rarely a matter of just moseying on up, grabbing something at the bar and kicking back until the main event. Not that it's a shitfight down on the barrier - most are friendly and courteous with one another, an alliance that forms in the queue - but the push comes from those who did turn up minutes before showtime and think their DGAF nature entitles them to ram themselves against every last person and use all elbows to get to the front ahead of people who waited for their place. We line up to avoid fuckery. Back there is where the stress is.
