Who is losing their shit? I see people making suggestions to get the tix out of the scalpers hands and into the hands of people who want to go to a show.

I don't do facebook so maybe it's different there. I've seen a few threads of people starting a petition, some mad because they got shut out for the Chicago show, but I also see some suggestions for a fan club and anything to keep the scalpers chances down such as credit card entry. That's the main reason I'm even having a dialogue is to increase the chances of the people who want to go to the show instead of someone trying to make a profit off of it. Obviously, the concert industry, bands and promoters have listened in the past because they started credit card entry to try and foil the scalpers some.

It would be comical if it weren't so dumb. Seriously.

I actually agree with the sentiment of the OP of this thread, but I understand why the band don't do it.

Twitter and Facebook have been exceptionally negative. It gets overwhelming the negativity. This board is pretty good because I scare people.

But, Knoxy speaks the truth...it's bad like this each year. I just need to get my game face on. Negative people make me crabby.

calm the fuck down, people.

yes, every new tour is time for all sorts of weirdos coming out of the woodwork to whine and complain about how their special asses are not treated the way they think they deserve, the band does offer a vast amount of exclusives and treats for fans, even those that can't attend a gig, I felt like I was at the Cubby Bear when I watched the live stream they did.

so yes, 99,99999% of the time people just blatantly whine and if you look around I'm usually there to point it out. this time though it wasn't like that at all, I didn't see any demands in the original post nor any sort of entitlement over the "casual" fan, all I've seen were suggestions based on models that seemed to work with other bands and since the Foos didn't do the same yet, maybe it was worth pointing it out. I doubt they didn't consider this, I'm sure they have enough people working with them making sure every option is considered, that's not to say a discussion can't be started on this, it's a fucking discussion forum for chrissake. READ what the original post says, it doesn't disrespect anyone? good. it's not whiny shit? good. you feel it doesn't make sense? get the fuck out of your high horse and point out why like a fucking human being.

at first I thought good points were raised, but then the arguments as to why it might not be the case convinced me more and I actually got something out of it. it's simple as that.

I attend NFL games where there are 68K passing through and every single person goes through a metal detector wand and their ticket is scanned. That would take no more time than doing the same thing as swiping a credit card and checking id. You'd think that they could come up with something similar for concert tickets. You could use the same device.
I know they didn't have quite the same numbers, but Nine Inch Nails did something similar at their show in Orlando last Halloween. They had a fan club presale (FC membership was free), and everyone's orders were assigned a number based on when they came in. On the day of the show, you swung by a table and showed your ID. They handed you your tickets and put a wristband on you that had your number on it (I was like 368 or something), and then directed you into the building. We all lined up in order number and then were let in to go down onto the floor 15 minutes before all of the non-FC-presale people were (which was another fantastic perk). The name on the ticket had to match the name on the ID, so there was no chance of resellers snatching all of the tickets up. It was far and away one of the most painless show experiences I've ever had.

They can't do that for 40,000 people though! It would be an all day thing.

That's why I don't do fakebook. Too much bullshit. I haven't seen the twitter stuff so I guess I'm not following the right people. I'm sure you've seen your share of it. I thought this thread was pretty good overall. I just laugh at some of the posters who think they own the place and try to act like they have message board cred and tell people what and when they can post. Maybe they need to stop bitching about the people's so called bitching. I find that comical too. I guess people will bitch about anything.
