John McCauley from Deer Tick sang 3 songs with Pat, Dave and Krist only, no other Foos, then he left and Joan Jett sang 3 songs with them. Brody Dalle played bass when Krist played accordion.

Whilst the encore sounds great and I'd have loved to have been there to see it, it annoys me when people call it a Nirvana reunion. Without Kurt you can't have a proper Nirvana reunion, just like whatever Brian May and Roger Taylor do without Freddie (and John) isn't really Queen.

There are some bands that work without the original singers such as Black Sabbath with Dio, AC/DC with Brian Johnston, but others reformed without the key member - Thin Lizzy without Phil, Big Country without Stuart Adamson, and also Skid Row without Sebastian Bach.

I agree with the Queen example, and in the case of Thin Lizzy they did the right thing and changed their name.

This Nirvana reunion wil not likely be much more than the odd rare gig every so many years.

This is the same as Queen for me, the frontman is simply too key to the band. ACDC could quite happily tour with another singer and that would still be ACDC as they've had multiple vocalists already

Yeah not really a Nirvana reunion but really wish I'd seen this. Just to watch Dave drum those parts live would be immense. John McCauley did a pretty good job. I'm not familiar with Deer Tick so I'll check them out now.

NE folk rock band. They are decent if you like that sort of thing.

I described it somewhere else as "Surviving Nirvana + Friends". And there's nothing wrong with that, I'm sure it was great!

Good kids, good band. I've known Johnny since before he even started a band. Couldn't be more proud of him/them this weekend. I hope to hell the fallout from this attention helps elevate them to another level.

I saw them support Gaslight Anthem back in the UK a few years ago. I was surprised that they weren't bigger than they are. He's got a fantastic voice.
