Default Opening Acts for 2018

Hey, does anyone think that there will be opening acts for the 2018 leg of the Concrete and Gold tour? I kinda hope there are because they pick fantastic openers, such as Royal Blood, The Struts and others.

That band that I'd love to see them with is The Glorious Sons. They are a young band out of Ontario and they are brilliant.

My fingers are crossed for QOTSA, but I think they've already announced dates during the tour next year.

They are headliners themselves. I can't see them playing opening. Although, that would be a double bill I'd kill for.

I actually think QOTSA wouldn't be too far fetched, because I'm pretty sure they are ending their 2018 tour before the Foo Fighters start their 2018 leg. Also, they've played with the Foo Fighters as an opening act before on this tour, so it's a total possibility. I would love for QOTSA to open for them.

Aren't they the opening band for the South America leg? Would love for that to get extended for next summer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are. And I would love to have it extended for next summer as well. Also, if there are opening acts, which there probably would be, does anyone know when they should be announced?

I'm holding out hope for Royal Blood for the second half of their tour.

It's a long shot, but they recently blew up and I dig their sound.

Seems like a perfect fit.

They also played at CalJam so I assume they met each other already.

Royal Blood opened for the UK dates in the Sonic Highways tour - they might do the UK dates but I'd be surprised if they did the US tour as they've just opened for QOTSA throughout their US tour, so probably wouldn't want to do it again.

Was hoping VANT, who opened in Helsinki, would be openers in the UK but they just split up

Greta Van Fleet would be an awesome band to have open for them!

Greta would be awesome. I would love that. They are soooo Zeppelin like.
They do play same day as Foo up at Rockville. So you may be on to something here.

I would be very happy if The Struts continued as opener - those guys are great

I didn't know they toured with QOTSA.

Yeah seems like a long shot.

I'm seeing them at MSG and QOTSA headlined there themselves so if they did head out with them, NYC wouldn't be one of the places they would go.

Does anyone know when opening acts will be announced? What has it been like in the past?

It's hit and miss. Sometimes they have announced it 2/3 months in advance. Sometimes less than that.

Re QOTSA - they are less likely to do a support set for a whole tour in the US than, say, Brazil, if only because of the size of the shows.

Bear in mind that the shows in South America are large stadiums. It might be feasible for Queens to join them at, say, Fenway or Wrigley, but less likely elsewhere.

Royal Blood would make more sense, size wise, but as people have pointed out, they may be taking some time to do other things.

Thank you so much for this help. I'm actually going to the Fenway show, so maybe QOTSA? I don't know. But if not QOTSA, I'm really hoping for Greta Van Fleet and/or The Struts. I know whatever opening act they get for Fenway, it's gonna be great, because they really do pick fantastic openers.

Agree 100%! They really ‘get’ what it means to warm up the audience!

If I were a betting man, I honestly wouldn't bank on Queens supporting them anywhere in the US, bar a festival, though obviously one can't rule it out, even given what they said before. That said, as you say, it's sure to be a fun band anyway.

Maybe they will invite Chicago area bands again.
