Default Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace - Re-visited

I haven't listened to this album for about 6 months. I've been hammering Wasting Light, Color and Foo Fighters. I listened to it today and forgot what a brilliant album it is 'The Pretender' still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up (awesome song live). 'Erase Replace' still has a great groove, 'Come Alive' is just....so good. 'Cheer up Boys' always puts a smile on my face and 'Home' makes me cry on every listen. I'd say it's my 3rd favourite album after 'Wasting Light' and then 'Color'. However that's a hard decision with the likes of 'There's nothing Left.....' and 'In Your Honor' in the running

I agree with you...I love the emo in the songs on ESP&G. Each album carries a different vibe and carries me on unique vacations...

I'm hoping he was just trying to be lazy and not type all of the word emotion out. I don't know. Maybe the emo kids like that album because of the warning that comes about their make up running?

I think The Pretender is one of their best songs ever and that new slow intro they did live recently, just made me love it even more.

I love ESPG! One of their most balanced albums. I would get tired listening to 'Foo Fighters' over and over.... There need to be quiet moments. And Come Alive is such a beautiful crescendo that really demonstrates their musical maturity.

same here. there's some awesome songs on it, but it's just not the direction I wanted them to go in.

I never cared much for Let It Die, but it's a really great live song. And Stranger Things Have Happened is among my favorite FF songs, but it also has Statues, which is pretty much the only Foo song I just have to skip every time.

Its kind of like an abridged version of IYH, thats a tad more palatable.

Well said. But first four on IYH are great:

In Your Honor
No Way Out
Best of You
D.O.A.

Rest of the electric album doesn't get many plays. Love the IYH acoustic. Overall wasting light is their best and most complete album from start to finish.

Haha. Not to sound rude, but what does "the direction you wanted them to go in" have to do with the quality of the music?
That album has some sheer genuis lyrics and build-ups in my opinion. It's not my favorite, but it definitely has some good qualities that some of the other albums don't.
In Your Honor is my least favorite album, but not because I didn't want the Foo Fighters to make it, but because it was musically weaker than the others.
I'm sorry, and no offense, but maybe come up with a better excuse not to like ESPG. :P

sheer genius lyrics? such as?
I didn't say I don't want them to make it, I like some stuff off it, but I believe it has the weakest songs overall, doesn't fit together as an album well, and it's therefore my least favorite. And I don't enjoy them doing overly cheesy piano ballads, other people are better at that.

This is one of my least favorite albums. Take OBO - All MyLife saved this album. Pretender doesn't even come close. So it is ESPG way last.

Ya, some of it was bland.

But, some of it was just freak'n amazing!

Thing is... Foo's 'body of work': is just Over-Whelming!

Catch 'em, when you can!

One by One is their worst album.

ESP&G is good but not the best. There are some shitty songs but at least it's not as bad as 1x1.

And Home. Why does everybody hate that song. Fuck all of you.

I re visisted ESP&G recently and I remembered why I stopped listening to it.

I love the Pretender and Let It Die but after that it really tails off. If it had kept up that heavier early vibe I'd have preferred it.
