I'm actually glad to hear this, most of my all-time favourite albums are around the 45 minute mark. I've yet to hear a +60-minute album with no filler.

yeah for a while the # of tracks crept up to 13-15 but i've noticed lately many bands have scaled it back down to the 9-12 range -- my guess is that someone decided somewhere that too many songs is not a good thing, maybe they figure listeners lose interest.

The 45 minute zone is a good run time. I'd rather have 10 great songs than 7 great songs with 6 filler songs.

Well but 'filler' is subjective.

Well, in a case like this, I mean filler as in songs that are skipped constantly.

Yeah I know, but I mean everyone skips different songs. Two people talking about filler songs on an album could be talking about completely different songs from that album.

Yeah it would be. I think when you wait this long for new stuff, you want lots of it.

If it's like EV, then I don't skip any of it. No filler on that album. I'll happily take another like that one.

The number of guest stars to the number of tracks has me worried about how much of the album will be played live. Though Josh is no stranger to singing lanegan led queens stuff so I doubt it will be a problem.

I had a thought today that this could be a triple record. I doubt it but it would be cool if the reason they have 3 drummers is because each disc has a different drummer.
*Edit*
That idea has now been squashed.
Full track listing

1. Keep Your Eyes Peeled

2. I Sat By The Ocean

3. The Vampyre of Time and Memory

4. If I Had A Tail

5. My God Is The Sun

6. Kalopsia

7. Fairweather Friends

8. Smooth Sailing

9. I Appear Missing

10. …Like Clockwork

You've always been able to in the fotos forum but I also activated it in the collections forum so people could post pictures of their items easier, I must have also activated it in this sub forum.

It'll never be activated in Foo Free or other forums for obvious (tub girl) reasons.

In regards to this. A poster over at the RekRek forum says that none of the guests are in your face or that obvious. He is quite close to the band it would seem. He's a reliable source over there to be honest.

I read that on this:
Quote:
The guests aren’t paraded out in traditional cameo-spotlight fashion; there are no “take it away Elton!” moments. Yes, Queens finally have their true queen in Elton John, but the glitter-shitting rolodex of contributors on the album is a gathering of threads weaving through a tapestry, rather than ropes of highlighted selling-point rock embroidery. When a new voice rises from the collective, before an impact of presence can be established they step back into the mix, joining the chorus of the great pirate ship once more. You’ll give yourself whiplash turning to the speaker when Trent Reznor’s voice rips through the bass-driven fabric on Kalopsia, but before you can lock in he’s gone. Later, near the end of the magnificently cutting Fairweather Friends, the same happens with Mark Lanegan – and it’s damned delicious.
So, does anyone hear Trent on Kalopsia yet? Maybe he's on the other part of the song (real length is 4:38)

That's still Josh innit? I have a terrible ear, I'll tell ya that, but I'm pretty sure it's still Josh.

Shit, after now hearing 6 out of the ten songs (4 whole, parts of 2) I'd have no problem with them not playing much of this live.

I haven't heard it on a decent enough sound source to spot Trent yet. Hopefully once I'm set up properly it'll be more obvious.

I was lucky enough to hear the whole new album at a listening session, and I have to say I was completely blown away.

The new sounds, great textures and layers. It's all there. But still with that lovely Queens sauce poured over it. The sauce we all love.

It's definitely an album you need to hear multiple times to get all the way into your brain, but I was loving it all.

For me the 10 track thing fits perfectly. All tracks, except for maybe My God Is The Sun, blend in perfectly.

Can't wait for you guys to hear the whole thing. I know I'm waiting for my vinyls and cd's I pre-ordered.

QOTSA is back baby!
