Default TBC just ok...underwhelming

Am I the only one who isn't head over heals in love with TVC? I like New Fang but when I listen to the rest I'm like meh. Anyone else feel this way? Maybe it's the Queens influence cause I like Zep and the Foo but feel the same way about Queens. Opinions?

Ah but have you seen them live, like I just did for the second time? I don't think you would find them underwhelming. Try a dose of live and it may just change your blankin' mind - because you wouldn't want to waste it now would you.

I haven't seen them yet, but I know they must be amazing. If this guy doesn't like the album at all, I can't see how he would enjoy them live..

Say what you like about Them Crooked Vultures, but diss Them Brooked Cultures and your eyes will be saying hello to my elbow.

I dunno - I did really, really like the album, but for me, live it was just a completely different beast. Especially as the absolute joy they're having while they play comes across and it makes for a really, really good gig.

Live was loud, raw and no comparison to the cd.

blasphemy!

i haven't seen them live. not sure i really want to. i was just wondering how many other people felt the same way. i feel that i should love it because dave is involved and i love the foo. however, i wasn't a HUGE fan of Nirvana

so i guess it is true that i don't have to like everything that Dave does...

If you don't like Queens, you won't like this. Of the three bands that "make" them, they are comfortably closest to Queens in sound, fairly unsurprisingly.

I don't think you can watch them live, even if you aren't mental for the music, without realising how talented a set of musicians they are and how much they love playing it though.

LOTS of fun. And the sound's different too. It's more...powerful? I don't really know how to explain it!

Possibly true but we would have to wait until he/she sees them live. Having just seen them live again, I was trying to explain it to my cousin. Thinking about it since last night, I would say reave - he plays the drums with a great deal of athleticism and also plays the drums as an instrument. It's more than just keeping the beat and forming the tempo. He actually expresses the feeling of the songs as if he were playing something like a piano and truth be told a piano - if you think about it - is a percussion instrument. As for their sound, the blend of four accomplished musicians out for fun and the challenge of creating something new together - well, that blend should be challenging and mystifying and exciting to our ears. It just may take our other foo board friend a few extra moments to process this creative expression from our guys. Now someone please stop me before I lapse into music theory lol
