Default Current setlists

Dunno if this should be in Tour Talk or not,

As it's more like the set in general than a specific show I thought this would be ok -

as I've whined about the setlists in the past I'm really happy to say that the current ones have been amazing. I thought already that my days of catching every live show I can are over but if they keep these kinda sets in the future I'll definitely be going to the shows whenever I can in the future aswell!

I love Enough Space. It's shown up at least twice recently.

Setlists shouldn't define a show. They do with his band however.

There was a time when they would just play all their "hits" / singles and fill time with the odd extra. Now they don't even do that and have taken to playing 3 or 4 covers in place of covering their back catalog.

I just looked at three shows. And each one skipped an entire album and 2 albums only had 1 song played. On top of that, it's the usual suspects.

Disappointing.

I think with nine albums, an EP, dozens of b-sides and a plethora of fan-favorite covers and rarities, it has to be nearly impossible to craft a set list. That said, you’re always going to have that one done you want to hear that doesn’t make the cut. Not to mention, the current tour is always going to be heavy with the current album they’re out in support of.

When you consider they play 25-30 songs a night, it’s tough to ask for more. At least they change up the sets. I’ve been a fan of some banda over they years that fall into that rut of playing the same show time after time.

Not singling you out here... but outside of the covers thing maybe, this is the exact same thing that's posted on every band's message board. In the end, unless we're going to more than one show (or trying to justify it), or watching every single one via an Internet link, any thoughts on it or more or less going to come down to whether you're a "huge" fan of the said act or not.

Here's a few threads for other bands... replace a "Basket Case" with "Everlong" and it's basically the same thing, haha.

There's 9 albums and probably 100 or more Foo Fighters tunes of which everyone has favorites, but they sound incredible live and all their songs are pretty rad.
So there's that going for us. 😊

I was a little skeptical when I saw they replaced the somewhat traditional All My Life opening with Run but it looks awesome. And then to follow up with AML and have the Pretender as the 4th song is a pretty fast and furious start. I've been tracking their set list this tour and it's pretty interesting. Because the Richmond show was the longest it's a little different but the 5 arena shows from Greensboro through Birmingham have had the same 1st 5 songs and the next half dozen or so are about the same. They were doing Something from Nothing 4 times in a row but stopped in Cincy. Same with Enough Space.

They did Arrows once in Greensboro, La Dee Da and Concrete and Gold once in Richmond. They consistently play the same 5 from C and G (Run, The Sky is a Neighborhood, Sunday Rain, Make it Right and Dirty Water) which I would have thought would be a little different. The Line is one of my fav's from this album and they last did it live on 10/9 in LA on a radio set. I'd rather have it or La Dee Da over Make It Right. And wow, that they did Wheels and Congregation in the seriously long Richmond encore!

They only played 12 songs in NOLA at Voodoo.

Run and The Sky Is A Neighborhood from the new LP, I don't remember any Sonic Highways tracks. Taylor sang one song: Under Pressure toward the end. Just before Everlong.

I gave up seeing them in 2008 after I'd seen almost exactly the same set every time. I think it was a lot worse in those days though. They definitely vary it more nowadays. The 'rarities' I've seen are probably:

Have It All,
Enough Space,
Disenchanted Lullaby
Marrigold (though I know it was played a lot on that tour, was nice to see)
The One
Tired
No way Back
Shake Your Blood w Lemmy
Let It Die
But Honestly

Same for me, I was done earlier, but then I went for the Acoustic tour (as I knew that would be significantly different) but I don't have the same excitement anymore. I said it before, we are spoiled these days, myself included, with easy access to bootlegs ... that makes it more monotonous, as now we've heard the same live songs far too often.

I did go to one show, citi field, last tour, but it was more to hang out with friends. It was cool to see the "throne" up close, and Royal Blood kicked serious ass as the opening act.

I've been tracking their set lists this tour and they are making slight changes. Aside from the festival set at Voodoo, they've been playing Make It Right in all the arenas until last night, they switched it out for The Line which I think is a good move. I still think they need to add La Dee Da in the consistent rotation. It's been since the 10/14 Richmond show that they did it. People were complaining about covers and they did 4 last night out of 25 songs.

Throw out the abnormal Richmond lengthy set list (31 songs) and festivals and the # of songs has ranged from 25 to 27. They were playing Enough Space on the first 4 shows but have dropped it the last 5. Oh and Cold Day in the Sun has returned. 3 of the last 3 arena shows.
