Default 01/96 session download (Early My Hero, Enough Space recordings)

Some people were asking about this in another thread and didn't seem to think it circulated much, so here it is for anyone that wants it. Everything that is circulating from the 01/96 X-Files session. Quality isn't great, but it's the best there is.

Details: http://www.foofighterslive.com/recor...1996-01-00.php

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?x8omz2zb2y2fh1t

107.7Mb in FLAC. MP3 conversions for your own personal use only please. What's 107Mb in 2011?

I am loooving Pat's backing vocals in Butterflies just as much as I did in the live videos! Can't believe i'd not heard these before.

Exist, yes. Comfortable was also supposedly recorded or at least toyed with at this session.

Thanks!

I had these, but the quality of my old files were crap.

I really love Butterflies.

I've always had mixed feelings about this session. This was the first real studio time the band proper had had (not counting the BBC studio session) and it was kind of an experiment to see how the band would actually work as a real band. I think they showed promise, but the timing is really all over the place, Dave's vocals are a little shaky and uncertain (it sounds like Dave isn't sure on the line "Put him on the ceiling!" whether to scream it like he did live or tone it down a bit for the recording), and they make some weird decisions. The beginning of Butterflies sounds weird with doubled vocals when there's only an acoustic guitar playing. Goldsmith made up some cool fills for Butterflies live which he leaves off the recording entirely. And the sudden change to a palm muted distorted guitar makes for a jarring transition. Overall to me it sounds like a band kind of tired from the long tour.

But it was a first step, and they obviously had some songs they toyed with and made really cool on TCATS.

That's what I heard from Liz Ellison just maybe a week after the recording. It wasn't until Tym confirmed the song's existence that I ever heard about the song from another source.
