the good stuff:
we used the station carpark and didn't get stuck in traffic (fabulous tip)
we got inner pit bands
we didn't get soaked in other people's wee
the people around us were very lovely and let us stand in front of them as we are very very short
FOR ALL THE COWS
Nate's smartness
the amazing performance by the band - it is damn hard to sing while sitting down even for a few minutes let alone two and a half hours

not so good:
we got lost trying to find our way back to the station, (but then again lost about 2lb in weight due to the walk)
Didn't get keyrings - but as I didn't know anything about their existence until just now I can't really complain!

So no bad points then!

Its did state as you entered the carpark it would be closed until all the fans had left the stadium. We parked in a carpark 2 mins away and drove straight out no hold ups at all.

The M25 is lovely on a Sunday night with no traffic.
We'd parked there 4 years ago, did the same this time. Came in from the north, no traffic, 2 to park all night, a gentle 20 minute walk to the Bowl ready for 4pm gate opening, job done! The walk back was a bit random, as for some reason we were sent along the road, not the path through the park past the lakes, so we got a little confused through the industrial estates, but didn't take that long, jumped in the car, and drove straight out through no traffic once more!

But don't tell everyone, coz otherwise they'll all do it and ruin it for us next time!

Great gig yesterday! My second time seeing the Foos (the first was at Reading in 2002).
Had an awesome time! Really did! Although when they played tracks off "In Your Honor" I got a bit emotional and kind of wished my wife was with me (I went with mates). That album means a lot to us you see. 2005 was a very up and down period in our lives. I really wished she was with me. Been with her 12 years, married for ten of those. Dave Grohl bless him made me realise how much I really do love her.
A few people moaned about the lack of special guests and lack of encore but fuck it - I had a great time and it's one of those special evenings that I'll never forget.

btw...

At the end of the night we weren't being let out of the car park. A hole in a bush was discovered through which we ALL made our escape. Anyone else here part of that mass exodus? It was hilarious!

It normally goes on longer than that! Don't think the people around us knew what it was all about - me and the other half were singing on our own for most of it!

I don't normally post on here, but read the threads regularly . A huge thank you to the people who posted the tips about parking near the station. 25 minute walk back from the Bowl, got slightly held up in roadworks on the way to the M1, but was indoors at 12.45am. Result!

I may be in the minority here but, as outdoor venues go, the Bowl is certainly one of the better ones. Now, if they could just move it nearer to Essex...

The inner pit yesterday was really empty. We stood about 6 back from the end of the runway and had room to swing a cat. No idiots chucking beer or piss.

I'd say 90% of people there didn't know HJP.

Glad you had a good time but that last statement is a bit disheartening.

Including Juls and I, there were three people singing aurora in the area surrounding us.

I'm following you to the station next time - took us an hour!

My daughter thought the bowl was the best venue ever. Asked if we can go every week...

Haha yes, genuinely had no idea that it was just a hole in a hedge until we were a couple of cars away - kudos to whoever spotted (or created) the hole and made the first move! Bumped through it, ended up in some car park for an office and drove off into the sunset (close to sunrise actually after how long we'd waited).

With HJP I randomly grabbed my mate and began serenading him along to it.
I wish they played DOA at my night, I dig that tune. Oh well.

Yeah! It took us out to the car park of some industrial estate didn't it? SO SO FUNNY!!!

I started saying lines from Firefly and Serenity. Just before we got to the hole in the bush I started saying shit like "Time for some thrilling heroics!" and "I'm a leaf on the wind... watch me soar!"

The funniest part was when we drove past the parking attendent guy boxing us into the car park on the other side. Got this "wtf?!?!" look off him like "Where the fuck are these guys coming from?!?" I HAD to wind down the window and shout "BYE!!!" to him!

Absolutely HOWLING with laughter! Couldn't quite believe I was doing it!
