um, guys....sometimes Dave says things he doesn't mean...like every show this tour, he's said he'd play a 4 hour show at an old, small venue in that town....

Part of the reason we all love him....

lets see--he didn't play until he puked and I didn't actually see him sing his balls off
I would've noticed the latter
yup, you are correct

none!

the husband was saying that FF aren't like some of the other performers nowadays--Gaga or any large production--they really can tone everything down and fit into a club performance--they did it in CA at the beginning of this tour and it worked great
You can't imagine someone like U2 or hardly any other performers being able to do that anymore.

Depends what U2 played. Some of their earlier stuff (I Will Follow, The Electric Co. etc) would work really well in that venue. But a lot of the later stuff wouldn't, because the sound they went for was the "stadium rock sound".

It's the same with the Foos. The more "raw" songs sound better in a small venue than some of the others.

But I guess you never know.
Lara--make sure you start this same thread tonight after the MSG gig

How I would love to see them in a venue like that. Maybe they'll ease away from their stadium-rock style of late and hearken back to their loud, garage-rock days. Not to sound like one of those "they were cooler when they were underground" guys, but seeing them play some of those older songs would be nice.

Really nice.

I'm too sleepy to check for myself, but when they did those smaller shows earlier this year, did they play older songs? Or was it a variation of the current set list?

From what I remember, they played Wasting Light in its entirety and then a bunch of their greatest hits.

They were pretty varied though, and pulled out a few rarities including Butterflies for the first time as a band since 1997. Wattershed is another crusty one they played at them all.

Wattershed, that must've been a nice surprise. I used to have a lot of their b-sides in heavy rotation, they should play some of those. Some great songs there.

It would be easy, just smash out a 3 hour breakdown during stacked actors and run up and down the runway for a bit - sorted.
