Default Re: Cancelled Gigs - what's next? What does the future hold? [Threads Merged]

Firstly, I really want to wish Dave the best in his recovery. Keep yourself rested and hopefully we'll all see you soon again!

For the concerts, would there be any chance of a reschedule where we could keep our original tickets (even if we're talking next year or more)? As, should new replacement gigs be scheduled in the future there'd be no guarantee we'd get tickets again.

Simon, Jill, hope you guys don't mind me starting a new thread for this - I feel it's a significantly different subject to warrant one though.

So. Our worst fears are true. The gigs got cancelled. I was beyond crushed when I heard about it last night - but Dave Grohl has to heal.

However one beacon of hope I'm hanging onto was that in Dave Grohl's message he said something was "being organised" or words to that effect.

I know an announcement is being made Friday about what options there are for those who bought tix.

What I'm HOPING and PRAYING for - is that some NEW dates will be announced and those who bought tix for this weekend will be able to use the tix they already have for one of the new dates. Probably in October or November I'm thinking. Luckily my pal who organised our trip and got the tix feels the same way.

For those more seasoned gig goers than I, is this predictable outcome? Is that what Grohl was getting at when he alluded to arrangements being made? I sure hope so. I'm sure many of us would love to have that option rather than go through the pain of having to try again when we went to so much effort in the first place.

IF we can do that, my heartbreak will go away!

Let the speculation begin!

Pretty gutted too but we know that this is a decision that Dave and the band would NOT have taken lightly... they always go above and beyond what's expected of them which is why we love them so much!!

The one thing you know is that the words in Dave's letter would have been truly heartfelt rather than having a statement issued via management... Not many bands would have done it that way.

For the time being I'm gonna chill and wait for more news to come.... they're scheduled back in Europe in November, maybe they'll sort something then? May not be Wembley Stadium but, if it isn't, I wouldn't be that disappointed. Although the last one was amazing much prefer seeing them in smaller venues....... Perhaps a residency at Brixton (OK I can dream!!), lol!!

Anyway, I'm sure everyone feels the same and wishes Dave a speedy recovery, just looking at the X-Rays made me !!

Well when Mr Grohl says that a "plan" is being worked out, I assumed he was addressing those who already bought tickets.

Anyone know roughly how long he has to rest up for?

He's not going to know just yet, it's too early. He will have to have physiotherapy too.

Of course Dave Grohl's rehabilitation after this bad injury is the most important thing.

I waited so long to see them so I want to set up an online petition today to ask the FF management to reschedule the UK dates in May, June or July 2016 and to honour the original tickets. If some people don't want to go they can get a refund and these tickets would be released later this year for others to try and get.

It was really hard getting tickets, so I want to ask for a reschedule and it looks unlikely not knowing how long Dave will take to get over the injury to get it done this year.. as Wembley can't be used after September.

So can I promote a petition on here? if I can't then its probably not worth me bothering with. Also I would need advice on getting the petition link to them?

Thank you.
I'd wait for an announcement first mate. This thread is just about speculation that's all.

I really have a hunch that the guys will do something that we can use our existing tickets for. Gut feeling. They'll know what hell it is to try and get tix for a gig and will want to make it up to fans. It's just the sort of people they are.

Even if I have to wait till THIS time next year, that will completely get rid of my disappointment! I can wait.

I reckon we'll have the option of a refund or waiting. Me and the guys have agreed to wait should that option be available.

^^^^This

A friend had the same injuries after a horse riding accident and it took months for it to heal.... having said that, at least Dave will have access to the best medical teams possible so it's like saying how long is a piece of string........

I guess it's good not to speculate too much at this stage and let nature take its course.... Anyway, it'll be 21 years next year so even more reason to celebrate!!

Hi Everyone
Been a shit year for us and we were so looking forward to Saturday. But that bone damage is nasty and really painful. It needs a lot of TLC if you ever want to see them properly again. I took my little boy and girl to Milton Keynes 4 years ago and they still remember that beautiful night. The fans present were the nicest people in the world so bear with this situation be patient and kind. I know I sound like some old hippy but honestly a bit rehab and Dave will be ok without it he will do more damage than is right.

Well. Dave's comments that I alluded to and the fact that an announcement is to be made indicates to me that some behind the scenes negotiations are going on. We'll just have to wait it out.

I'll be extremely upset if the gigs aren't rescheduled and I'm FORCED to get a refund.

Well, yeah but that's Japan. Things probably work differently over there. Man, I do feel sorry for those fans though.

There'll be replacement shows, it's just a question of when.

I don't care when, as long as there are. I can wait. Seriously, if replacements are announced I'll be one happy camper!

My wife is going away for the weekend with some mates of her's. We'd arranged for my Mum to have our daughters stay at her's for that weekend.
Now my Mum wants me to go over and stay too. It's going to be irritating as hell, cause she'll ask me if I'm disappointed about it EVERY TEN SECONDS.
It's going to be SO annoying!

Dave will need a lot of rehab. I'd say the US tour is in doubt also at present, I can't see anything happening this year. How great though to get a personal statement from Dave as opposed to a generic statement by management that most bands would have done.

And as for the dude with the petition - get real buddy. Wait for the announcement before you start the campaign.

The one thing you know about this band is that:

a) they genuinely care about their fans
b) the love playing live
c) they love the UK

So they will be back. When? Speculation. But they will be.

In Dave we trust.
