Default Thoughts on kids in concert

Hi All,

Our sons love the Foo Fighters. One will be nearly 9, the other 13 when the Foo Fighters come to town. I'm wondering how people feel about taking my youngsters to this concert?

I'd hate to have them miss it and possibly wait another 6 years to see them.

Thoughts?

Take them, bring ear plugs, get seats. Do all of that and you'll be absolutely fine.

There might be a few "tasty" words thrown out by Dave, but nothing that offensive.

I took my 8 year old to the Knoxville show for her birthday. She loved it, although she was rather ticked off about there being an opening act. She assumed Foos would be the only band. She practiced staying up to midnight for a week beforehand (it was fall break). At the show she was pretty much done after 10:15, and actually fell asleep in her seat toward 11. I had to wake her up for Everlong. But, she got to see her favorite band and song in concert, and still talks about it. It was definitely worth it for her.

My vote is to take them at those ages, but don't expect the show to be great for you. A lot of my time was spent checking on her and it wasn't as fun for me once she got tired, plus I'd rather be in GA. But, I went to another show later that week by myself. I'm planning on 6 Foo shows next year, and may only take her to 1. My 5 year old has absolutely no interest in Foos, but I'll take him if Rush ever tours again. He's been singing Tom Sawyer since he was 2.

Make sure to take hearing protection, and I second getting seats.

My kid at the show:

What everyone else has said. Also, know that even though they are excited they might fall asleep. My whole family went to Zac Brown a few years ago, and the kids fell asleep around 10ish.

I have seen firsthand people throwing things at kids that were on their parents' shoulders in GA. I can't believe people put their kids in harms way like that.

I know times are a bit different as far as crowd security goes -

saw Nirvana at a festival when I was 14, was in the pit area, really thought I was gonna die in there, it was the wildest crowd I´ve experienced. And I´ve been to a lot of shows.

Thank you everyone for your comments!

I was really excited to bring my kids to the concert and am glad I'm not the only parent who wants their kids to experience Foo Fighters in concert.
Unfortunately I just found out I cannot purchase the tickets because of the 4 ticket limit per household (We have 3 kids, so there's 5 of us in the household). I'm obviously not going to leave one kid at home while the rest of us go to an awesome concert.

I'm sooo disappointed!!

Can you sit in different sections maybe, and get 2 tickets from someone else or stubhub?

I will definitely try. The tickets here go like hotcakes... the last time Foo Fighters played in Edmonton was in 2015. So the tickets get snapped up very fast. I got my two with the presale code, and 40 mins on hold with ticketmaster for another solution, without getting one.

I'll keep trying.

Thanks!

Call the venue or ticketmaster - wherever the tickets are on sale through - and ask them what you can do in that situation.

Already spoke with Ticketmaster, was on hold for 40 mins, but no solution.

I will try stubhub and hope for the best.

We took our 9 year olds to the Madison show. They loved it.
We got seats-I could only get 2 groups of two, but luckily, people next to us were willing to seat swap.
Hearing protection is a must.
We got a couple of funny looks and comments, but I didn't care-my kiddos had a blast-they knew more of the lyrics than most of the people around us.

I would try to buy 4 together and a fifth one basically anywhere. If the kids are small enough 2 adults and 3 kids should fit just fine in an area meant for 4 adults anyway. As long as you don’t plan on sitting the whole time it shouldn’t be an issue.

I got 2 seats and 3 seats separately, so I am hoping people would be willing to swap so we can get 5 seats together. Fingers crossed.

Took my 11 and 12 year olds to the show, they loved it! It was pretty cool seeing them sing along to the songs! Some folks around us where astounded that they knew the songs! Everyone was cool though as most Foo fans are!
