I couldn't believe it was him at first. I was probably... tenth or fifteenth in line sandwiched between a group of teenagers playing poker and a really nice older couple whose names I cannot remember. My sister swore that getting to Columbus later than noon wouldn't be a problem but she just doesn't understand the power of the Foo. I still got a decent spot, though, I was right along the side rail.

Well I'm glad u got a good spot! I got there at 11 and the two people in front of me got there at 9!! There really isn't a bad spot in the place but sounds like we got great spots! Yay what a great night

Dave came to my house and hung out for awhile. I was 13 and my mom had just passed away. He is cool as hell and gave my brother and I a positive experience when we needed it most. He told us some hilarious stories about touring with nirvana(never seen them repeated any where so I won't retell them) and also taught me how to play a power chord. He rocked out on my little guitar and shook the house using my brothers drums. He is very down to earth and has a kind heart. This was in 1997. Learning the power chord revolutionized my ability to play guitar(self taught), and Dave didn't flinch when I asked him how to play a Blurr song haha. He figured it out in seconds which blew my mind then but it allowed me to learn to do it too. After that we were allowed backstage at a free concert they did in Maryland outside some record store(forget name of store). Was awesome. Thanks Dave.

My dad and Dave's dad were bother newspaper writers in DC. They've known each other from way back when Dave used pillows for a drum set(his dad's words:P). Just a lucky connection, and also when Dave lived in the DC area. He literally shook the entire house going to town on those cheap drums, was pretty epic.

This is 100% true. I didn't get to meet any of the boys but my brother did, it's quite a story. He met Taylor. As my brother is very tall, he sticks out in a crowd. For the purpose of brevity, I'll refer to Taylor as 'T' and my brother Nick as 'N'.

T'was a sunny 4th of December 2011 in the central business district of Adelaide, South Australia and T was out riding a pushbike around town topless with a bike helmet on his head and dark sun glasses on his face, the day prior to the Foo's gig at Adelaide Oval. My brother in town to see the Foo's, checks in to his hotel room and then proceeds to walk into the central business hub for a beer. Whilst on the footpath he spies a lean topless cyclist stopped at a pedestrian crossing and thinks to himself 'that looks like Taylor Hawkins'. He decides to yell 'Taylor' to which T responds and acknowledges N. N approaches T and T pulls over to the footpath to exchange pleasantries and graciously shares in a photo opportunity with N and then T continues on his merry way. Awesome N thinks! Four hours later and 2 miles away, I arrived in town to meet my brother for dinner down on the restaurant strip at my fav restaurant. As N had been drinking booze in the afternoon, he decided to leg it downtown. What do you know, as he's strolling down the footpath, guess who else walks past...you guessed it but T. They wave to each other and N says to T, 'don't worry, I'm not stalking you' and they both have a bit of a laugh. Go figure!
The following day after a good night out and a good sleep, N decides to go into town again for a feed and a few pre-concert beers. As he steps out of the front doors of his hotel, none other than T rides past on his pushbike again! They both wave and smile at each other simultaneously. What are the chances? N cannot believe it! But wait, there's more. Later in the day, N is walking down to the line-up at the venue around mid afternoon and hears someone shout out to him. N looks around and it's T laughing and waving to N, presumably whilst on his way to sound check. Totally cool!!!
What are the chances of bumping into one of the most famous rock drummers in the world 4 times in 4 different locations over 2 days in a city of a million people? Pretty amazing really I reckon. It wouldn't possibly happen to me.....although I did get to meet Slash while he was in Australia in August 2012 purely by chance.

My crazy story...

My buddies and I went down to the Fingerprints record store in Long Beach, when Foos put out Medium Rare on Record Store Day. We don't live around there, so we weren't able to get tickets, but we were able to go in and see the set-up for their live show there later in the day, and get a copy of Medium Rare.

So we end up getting the LP and are walking back to our car, and are about to get in and leave, when, just down the street, we see THE White Limo coming towards us! So I freak out. I'm wearing the t-shirt from the deluxe package of WL and start holding up my copy of the vinyl, cheering, shouting, as it drives by...I have no idea who is in it. The limo stops, front window rolls down.....Taylor Hawkins himself asks me how to get to Fingerprints!! Coolest thing ever, and first time I ever talked to one of the bandmembers.

Now if you had tickets to the show, you had to wait outside in line. But if you didn't, you were able to go in and hangout in the bookstore while Taylor, Chris, Nate, Pat, and Rami eventually showed up and shopped around. Got to meet them, had most of 'em sign my copy of MR. Didn't get to meet Dave that time though (got to meet him instead at the Sound City premiere!).

Long story short: helped Taylor find the venue, and was one of the only people to get Medium Rare signed ON Record Store Day by a majority of the band. Hell of a day

One day I was at work on Aurora Ave in Seattle, with the door open watching the world go by, when to my surprise our sweet innocent Dave was hit by a Seattle city truck that rear ended his black Suburban. It was raining, of course & there was quite the nasty pile up. After I called 911, I went out to let ppl know an ambulance was on its way. On my lunch break I would walk to the deli down the street & wouldn't you know it, the cops only had Dave pulled off to the side. I felt this was unfair so on my way back from thr deli I peeked inside the cop car & told Dave that I saw the whole thing & could be his witness. But crap, the cops made me give a statement so I had to think fast so I said, "The city car hit Dave's car that caused Dave to lurch forward & hit the car in front of him." Hoping that's what Dave told them, I went back to work. Five minutes later, guess who walks into my shop--yep, Dave. He buzzes over to me with his hand out to shake mine then thanks me. I was almost knocked over by his smile--I swear he smiles from ear to ear! We spoke awhile & he said, "Is there anything you want to ask me?" which I thought was endearing but I said, "No, this isn't the right time." But then he insisted so we talked about something I had written & was trying to set music to. He said, "I'd be interested" so he asked for my phone number. And this is where I go morally correct but oh so wrong. You see his gfriend was in the car waiting for him & I thought no way do I want to be the name on a piece of paper that she could possibly find-DUMB! It would have been purely business although I worked in an adult shop at the time & Dave & I were talking in the porn magazine aisle. So I did NOT give him my phone number but asked him to reach me at work. The next week, Dave was in NY playing drums for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers ON SNL & then he must have got busy with the Foos bc I never heard from him. Guess my opportunity is forgotten. But please don't ask me about the times I wouldn't give Eddie Vedder my phone number--TWICE!

I met Chris Shiflett the morning before the Foo Fighters concert that I was attending in Eugene, OR. I visting the University of Oregon and my Dad and I went out to a local breakfast spot. Prior to breakfast I threw on my FF hat, secretly hoping to run into one of the guys around the city before my campus tour and the show. While at breakfast I noticed a guy who looked like Chris sitting alone across the room. My Dad looked but was unsure. I didn't want to go up to a random stranger but felt like my chances were good that it was Chris. As I looked up again, I noticed a few tattoos on the guys forearm and fingers and knew it was for sure Chris. As we were preparing to walk out, we went up to him and it WAS in fact Chris Shiflett. We talked for about 2 minutes just about seeing the band and planning college visits around the tour schedule. That night during the show, Chris recognized me (because of my hat) and we made eye contact a few times, as I was in the first row on the floor right in front of his mic set-up. During the encore he nodded to me and my Dad and as the band was bowing he tossed me a pick from the show.

I also ran into Pat at a local pizza place while I was getting lunch in between classes. It looked like he there was a fundraiser going on for his kids as there were a bunch of elementary school aged kids there and a bunch of parents. Pat was sitting at a table with three other parents so I didn't go up to him as I felt awkward interrupting their lunch and had to get back to for class.

I hope to run into Dave as he lives a few miles away from me.

I'm supposed to be going to a BBQ this month where Dave will be the pitmaster. And there's a chance I may get to hang with him the night before. Fingers crossed as that would be the thrill of a lifetime. Trying not to get too excited though in case it falls through.

Met Dave and Taylor on Sunday night in Nashville at a bar after the Pilgrimage Festival. I don't typically go up to celebs and bother them like that, but these guys are so high on the list of people I always wanted to meet, that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Happy to say that as expected, they didn't flinch for a second, took a picture with us and were just awesome. Certainly a major highlight and afterwards I couldn't stop smiling.

Well I didn't get a chance to hang with him the night before but I did meet Dave and got to eat some Backbeat BBQ. It was awesome. He is a super nice guy.
