Specially since we've only heard 3/8 of the album so far!

For now, I love it, and it's promising, but if we compare for example the first 3 tracks from WL and the first 3 from SH.... I choose WL!

Well that's it, compare it to how you felt when you heard the beginning of past albums, and if it's better then it could be your favourite so far.

I really don't like this track. Not really feeling the new songs thus far. The Feast and the Famine is okay.

oh btw on second listen two things jump out,
1- and this goes for the first two tracks as well, Jesus there's great space on this record...even the tight guitars, sound, I can hear it all better sounding than ever dudes!,
which leads me to number 2:
Shifty, for heavens sakes, is there anything he can't play?!
I love the melodic lead if that's you on second part (if not, tip my hat to Dave Pat or Fooever),
but the boy plays right along with anyone, Rick Nielsen included- just brilliant.

cheers dears
The production, mixing, etc., on this album is top notch. Definitely the best yet for this band in my opinion. The music has room to breathe.

It's what I like though, we're all thinking differently, and that makes it great for discussion

Oh, I can't bring myself to look there anymore. I deleted myself so I can't, anyway. I'll just say, if you're going to share on Tumblr that you're not quite feeling it, be prepared to defend yourself. Yikes. Anyway, giving it some time, the song's solid as a standalone track. It's just a change of pace after the first two that's thrown a few people off. It'll find its place once the ep comes out and we get context.

Exactly. Not everyone here has done this before at release date for every album. Being in the music space OF THAT TIME at that time. You can't relate the same way unless you were.

In an overall sense you can, and in that sense too I like the first three songs enough by themselves already to say this album will stand out as the best for me. If that's hard for someone to understand that's fine, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything I'm just saying what I feel.

IYH and albums onwards have some pretty horrible filler on them, these new songs take it to another level.

After hearing Something From Nothing, I knew this album was in trouble but I didn't know the extent of it. Now I do.

I haven't listened to the other two songs yet so I can't say whether you are right or not, but judging by the comments of most of the people online (and from what my friends have said) it seems most people would disagree with you.

I can definitely say Something From Nothing is a pretty good song, Foo-wise.

I like it, don't get a country vibe from this song at all.

So far i'd rank the 3 songs released.
1. The Feast and the Famine
2. Congregation
3. Something From Nothing

It's fine if some or most people disagree with me, I'm saying what my opinion is.

From what I read in this thread there's a whole other forum (I don't even know which one) that is shitting on the new material. Are those people wrong and the people on here right? In the end we all have opinions. I've given mine.

I think once the hysteria dies down around these new songs we will hear more accurate opinions. I'm looking forward to that. Reading page after page that it's the best material ever is getting a bit tiresome.

SFN may be a 'pretty good song' for maybe a Sound City followup album but, in my opinion it should never have made it on a FF album. Same with the other 2 songs. They sound like IYH/ESPG songs that were never good enough to even be B-Sides.

If Nickelback released Congregation that would be another stand alone reason to put shit on them (even more) for the rest of time.

Literally one of the worst rock songs I've ever heard. You can say SFN is definitely a 'pretty good' Foo song, for yourself.

You are right about your entitlement to being opinionated, and I can also have the opinion that you incorrect in your assessment of "Something From Nothing".

You may not like that, but opinions can be about all kinds of things.

And, for some reason, I highly doubt that when I do listen to Congregation, I'm going to be reminded of Nickelback.

Yes we can disagree and you're wrong, much better and nothin like Nickelback,...
to be more accuratevtovthose who haven't heard,
Something From anothing is a real 70s rocker complete with Rushian styles blended with Stevie Wonder Superstition era funky keys, awesome!
Feast is a punkish , well more of a DIay 80s, 90s type rocker complete with great guitars, Dave howls and memorable melodies,
Congregation ain't country but me rore mysteriiu highway esquecgrooves, think Dwight Yoakum, Mavericks, but awesome guitar leads by Shifty
