I also got a weird vibe during Glastonbury, I thought Dave looked annoyed at Chris's choice of song during the band introduction, and he made him play something else instead. Quite possibly I'm over-interpreting, but I remember raising my eyebrows at the time.

Apparently the first song Chris played at Glastonbury was Ted Nugent (I say apparently because I don't know his songs and am going by Dave's word). Ted Nugent being a vocal Trump supporter, I can kind of understand Dave's reaction there

that's right, it was Ted Nugent. And Dave said something like, "umm I don't think he's too popular over here... I know he's popular in your heart though"

I didn't think Chris was that kinda guy. He never came across from what I read as being a major conservative.

Chris is far from conservative.

Give his great podcast a listen.

Also, this came out today: http://www.gigwise.com/news/110706/f...lett-interview

Pretty sure Chris is as liberal as they come. He just likes Nugent's music, I guess...

Chris plays this gentle little high part over Dave's part, which sounds really cool. Now that I've watched it again, I think I was wrong - it was just before Dave started singing that Chris stopped, although Dave was definitely looking in his direction - hard to tell if he was wanting him to stop or actually liked it.

Looks like he says something to Chris, is it "this is nice"? I can't really tell but sounded like he complimented Chris for what he was doing.

I think most of these are just us reading too much into what we can't really know, Chris is more of a quiet guy and quiet people are often mistakenly seen as grumpy or just look grumpy in particular situations.

I do have a feeling that he gets shut down sometimes though, like in the wasting light making of where he suggests something for "these days" and Dave just doesn't want it. That'll happen in any band and any collaborative effort but he has so much to bring in terms of songwriting that we never get that that may be a glimpse into how his ideas may be received. It's Dave's band though and he knows it and respects it, I'm sure it must be frustrating but it's what he signed up for, he can let his creative juices flow freely with side projects which I'm sure it's a great outlet for that.

He is, he frequented the political forums on the 100% foo free section of this post board a few years ago, there's no question about where he leans more into.

Yeah, I agree. I guess it's just because I really want to see him shine and be given plenty of guitar time.

Lots of speculation in this thread about band members's personal feelings.... and extrapolating out some kind of band splintering seems like a REALLY big deductive leap, at least to me.

Anyways, I'll leave y'all to read the tea leaves. About time to give the album another spin.

For sure, I'd definitely love that as well.

I'm not that into his country stuff but I loved the Jackson United albums, had the opportunity to see them play a couple times and it was so amazing. I wish he'd go back to that sometime.

If i remember correctly, when I saw them in Budapest earlier this year Dave asked Chris to play some Ted Nugent. So who knows.....

Chris did look absolutely knackered at the O2 last night

Thought for years that I was making it up myself that the dynamic between Chris and Dave is weird onstage,

Then I talked with a friend who'd never seen the FF live before after one of their gigs during summer and the first thing he pointed out was that the way Shiflett was treated onstage was weird. Dont remember what it was exactly but I think there might be something between them - Chris has said in interviews that things got really tense between them for a while when Pat rejoined..

Yeah, that moment before the Wheels performance looks totally innocuous. It's like he was just pausing to think of what to say.

And I'd think the Nugent thing was about him not being popular in the UK, not a political thing.

But yeah, I noticed it doesn't seem like Chris has any big solos on C&G. It felt more like the earlier albums when the bridges were just more of a riff. One of my main frustrations here is that some of the bridges/outros just feel kind of unfinished and held back.

Also, (music) journalists need good stories and good quotes. Everyone knows Dave gives you that. I think a lot of journalists don't know the other band members well enough to take the 'risk' by asking them questions. Which is really stupid because they often say things that the others haven't said yet.

Anyway, there's a Belgian magazine that interviewed Chris, Nate and Pat about the new record. I'll share the text in a new thread!
